Linked Documents 
Author: Peter BohnhoffI have a page that contains a table with a list of documents stored on the webserver. Each document name is "linked" to the respective document which is stored in a local directory of the PC. When I publish the page all works fine: Clicking on a particular document opens the document.
Problem: When a document needs to be updated this is done using MS Word. The updated document is stored in the same place as it was before. This means the link in the webpage is still correct, i.e. there is no need to touch the page using WebsiteX5. However, when I export the project to a local directore, WebsiteX5 does not recognize that the underlaying document has changed and does NOT copy the document to the local directory. When uploading the project to the website the updated documet is hence not transferred. As a result, on the website there is still the old version of the document available.
How is this problem corrected?

One possible solution to this issue might be to use a cloud storage facility such as Dropbox to enable you to make revisions to the Word documents locally on your PC, which will then be automatically synchronized and uploaded to your Dropbox folder on the cloud.
In order for this to work the only other thing you would have to do would be to change the hyperlinks in the table to point to a shared 'public' Dropbox URL, as opposed to the local directory on your PC.
In effect this will ensure that visitors to your web page who click on the links are always viewing up-to-date synchronized versions of the local copies on your PC.
If you don't want to use Dropbox or similar then another solution would be to store the Word documents directly on your server, and edit them as necessary using an FTP client like FileZilla. This would involve a little more work, but visitors would still always see current content providing the hyperlinks in the table were changed as before to point to the new file locations on the server as opposed to your PC.
Hope this is of some use, or maybe sets your thoughts running in a direction which may help you find an ultimate solution.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I realize there are ways to circumvent the problem. However, I believe that there is a bug in WebsiteX5 Version 9 (at least) in that the program does not move all the referenced (linked) documents to requested folder for uploads.
As soon as I open the link of the document in question in WebsiteX5 and close it again (without changing anything) the program assumes that a change has happened and - in the following export process - moves the associated document correctly.
As I believe this is a bug in the program I would like to solicit an opion from the developers. Thanks.

The program, once you open the preview, it makes a copy of the file and uploads this one. If you edit one file you need to press CTRL while you open the preview, so that also the new file is taken by the program and uploaded.
