Uploaded .html files only show menu structure (text) I have done a website update, and now my .html formatting is gone, all that is visible is a menu structure. I reviewed the .html files in my Preview and Upload directories. The .html files in the preview folder all display correctly when I open them. When I open the .html files from the upload directory, it only displays a text menu structure and not the correct .html format. What seems to be the problem? the .html files in Preview is correct, but the files in Upload is corrupted Gerrit de la Rey

Hi Gerrit,

Could you take a look at this post:

Is it possible that your issue is related?  The symptoms are very similar...

Best regards,

Paul

I do not have Dreamweaver installed, I only use Website X5.

The problem now is that any updates that I do and upload, my website only displays a text structure.

I had to use a week old backup from my host, in order for my site to be live.

Until this problem is resolved I will not be able to do any website updates.

See the 2 attached files, the one is the index file from the Preview folder, and the other is the index file from the Upload folder, and it is the files from the upload folder that gets uploaded.

OK, if it's not the Dreamweaver issue then it would be worth trying the following next:

Close X5.  Make a backup of your X5 project.  Delete both the 'Preview' and 'Upload' folders along with their entire contents.

Restart X5 and open your project, then hold the 'CTRL' key down whilst entering the preview mode for the first time.

Export afresh to the web, and test.

Let us know how you get on!  Smile

Ok So I deleted both Preview and Upload folders. Opened my project, and the files we re-created. I selected Preview whilst holding the ctrl key down. The page displayed correctly.

However, when I go into the Preview folder and open index.hrml, it displays correctly, but when when I open Index.html from the Upload folder, it still only shows the menu structure.

It may be a good idea to wipe your X5 files on your server and reupload afresh, having done the CTRL preview thing...

Reason I say this is because I have just investigated my own index.html files within the 'Upload' folder of my version 9 projects, and all of them without exception show as a bare, unformatted page, just like your own project.  I think this may be by design.

I take it you were having problems with the live files on the server following the website update?
