I would like to upload a file to my website and link it to a graphic so that when a person clicks on the graphic it opens the file and plays a program. How is this done? Where is the file uploaded to? and how is the link created?  In this instance the file is a presentation created in Articulate Storyline. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hello Glenn,

You can do this by dragging an Image Object to a webpage in Step 3 - Page Creation...

Double-click on the new Image Object to enter its properties...  on the 'General' tab in 'Local File on PC' browse to the graphic you want to associate with your Articulate Storyline file.

Having done that, click the 'Link' icon in the 'Properties' section below...  in the new screen which opens select 'File or URL' from the list on the left-hand side, and on the right-hand side fill in the path to your Articulate Storyline file on your PC or the Internet as appropriate.

Now reupload your X5 project to your server.  The program will automagically keep track of your Articulate Storyline file, and ensure it is uploaded to the correct place on your server, or linked to correctly as appropriate.

Let us know if you need further assistance.

Kind regards,

Paul

I tried this Paul and not having much luck. When I link the file to the graphic as you suggest it comes up with a blank window. Will this method open .exe files as well?

What format is your Articulate Storyline file?  Is it not Flash?  .swf file extension?

If so then you may need to install the Flash plugin in the preview browser and/or main browser as required.
