Can I set a link from a sub-menu item to go straight to a URL  en

I have a menu item set on a level and I know I can link direct from there to an extrenal URL.

But I would like to have some menu items to link to external URLs. At the moment the only way I can see to set sub-menu items is t make new pages - but then, if I click those sub-menu items, I have to have a page and put the link on that page.

I would like to be able to click on a sub menu iem (a page name) and go straight to a URL. Is this possible please?

Hello Duncan,

If I have understood you correctly then this is relatively easy to achieve in X5.

The key lies in creating new levels as sub-menu items, as opposed to new pages.

You do this in Step 2 - Sitemap Creation.  Create a new level for every item in the sub-menu which you wish to redirect to an external URL.  But you have to be careful when you create the new levels that you are doing so with the parent folder/level in focus.  Else the new levels will not all be on the same level!

Once you have created as many new levels as you wish, you can edit their names just as you would pages.  Then highlight/select each new level in turn and click on the 'Properties' button...  in the new screen which opens select 'File or URL' from the drop-down menu entitled, 'Link to be executed on item click'  -  you can then set your external URL for each item as required.

Hope this helps!

Kind regards,

Paul
