hi guys why is it that when a client buys 2 items the shipping price does not double? or how to set the up? it suppose to be in version 10! i managed to have different shipping cost for different items, but not when buying more than 1 item.

Hello Daniel,

WebSite X5 provides options to fix shipping costs by total order value or total order weight.  You can define the rates for each in Step 4 Advanced Settings - Shopping Cart - 'Order Management' tab...  highlight a 'Shipping Type' from the list, and click the 'Edit' button on the right...  in the new window that opens go to the 'Cost' tab to set appropriate shipping costs.

The reason why the shipping price does not simply double when adding two items to the cart is because that would not mimic the way shipping tariffs operate in everyday life.  It's very common for shipping to be priced on a sliding scale, with substantial discounts for bigger orders, often to the point where shipping becomes completely free of charge to the consumer if they place a large enough order.

By recording each product's weight in Product Settings (Step 4 Advanced Settings - Shopping Cart - 'Products' tab - 'Edit' - 'General' tab) the software will be able to allocate the correct shipping price for each individual order.  You can create as many shipping 'bands' as you feel are necessary.
