I have reinstalled X5v8 on my new Windows 7 Pro 64bit PC and I cannot upload to the internet. Get the message "Unable to connect to server. Please check with your Internrt Provider that you have the right connection Information." I do have the right information because I can still upload with the old XP box with identical credentials. I have tried disabling the Firewall and antivirus and also tried running X5 as an admin. I have tried installing X5 in XPsp3 compatibility mode. Windows firewall is off.I have tried passive and non passive modes. I can successfully connect to webserver with Filezilla. I have run wireshark and there is no attempt made to connect to the webserver but with filezilla I see FTP connection occurring at the interface.

Nothng has worked so far. Any help appreciated as my old XP box is slowly dying.

I have installed v8 Evo and v9 Evo in a system Win 7/64bit - and everything works correctly.

One possible *fault* can be in your Antivirus (or you forgot to install x5 in *admin-mode* - (which in Win 7 is different)

-> start x5.exe with button right hand-> as admin  to install and/or work/upload - - -

Some Providers require you to immediately specify the destination folder, before connecting. Then you have to specify the destination folder path, FTP address, username and password before you start the FTP connection.

To solve the problem, you can choose one of the following options, some have been mentioned above, but please check again:

  • Try changing the type of connection activating or disabling the FTP Passive mode.
  • The export is blocked by Firewall, Anti-Spyware or  Anti-Virus programs. Disable temporarily protection programs installed on your PC or set them in order to allow WebSite X5 to have free access to the Internet.
  • Server temporarily unavailable. The Server may be undergoing maintenance or simple reboot. Try again later or contact your Provider.
  • Remote disk is full. The space on the Server disk is full so you can't complete the publication of the site. Verify the possibility to save space deleting all the already published files and then proceed with a new export.

Futhermore what versione of Evo 8 are you using?

I am running  Evolution X5 with update version 8.0.16.

I have tried all the suggestions you make but with no luck.  The same software on my XP box works fine (but very slow).

I have created a webserver on a local machine and get the same message. So I believe that negates the issues of drive space, passive etc.

Regards.

Are you using any kind of Backup program? Could you please attach a screenshot of the error message?
Thank you!

Yes I am running Seagate Manager as a backup.  It came with the USB Backup drive.  I have disabled the backup but it has made no difference.

Attached is a screenshot of the error as requested.  As This is a Win 7 machine I can also record the operation to a file if that would be helpful.

Try changing the FTP address by removing "ftp://". Leave only ftp.harmonize.com

I suppose that the Initial directory that you use ( the /) is what your provider instructed you to use ?

Your provided should have sent you instructions about this, when you bought the web space.

You beauty, that worked.

I never thought of trying that as that is how it was in the XP machine.  I have just tried again in XP and it does not care if the FTP:// is there or not, both work.  But with Win 7 it appears to more fussy.

My provider provided the instructions exactly as I have been doing.

Once again many thanks, I can now get on with building the website rather than getting X5 to work.
