New features in X5 Professional  en

Hello,

I would like to upgrade to X5 professional, especially because I need advanced e-commerce functions, so I just went through the version comparison and learned nothing but some marketing bla bla (sorry to say that, but the comparison does not answer any of the questions I have).

As I, based on the marketing talk about Evolution, overpromised to a client and now am having a hard time to keep my promises, I do not want this to happen again, therefore, before I buy the upgrade, I need answers to the questions below.

1. Will I be able to change the order ID to number only format so that it can be used as bank payment (variable symbol) identifier?

2. Will the user management (self-registration) work for the e-commerce module too?

3. Will the database integration work for the e-commerce function too? Meaning that the orders will be written into a database instead/in addition sent by e-mail to facilitate order management?

4. Will the advertising corner FINALLY get the possibility to use own graphics?

5. Does the "Dynamic content update directly online" stand for a CMS system?

6. If yes, will the CMS system be available for the e-commerce part as well? E.g. updates to the product list.

7. Is there a counter how many items are still in stock so that we do not oversell?

9. What exactly does the Premium online website control panel do?

10. Is there a whitepaper available with a DETAILED DESCRIOPTION of the features / differences between Evolution and Professional?

Thank you in advance

I don't use the e commerce so the first three i don't know...

4. Will the advertising corner FINALLY get the possibility to use own graphics?

This is the same as in V10

5. Does the "Dynamic content update directly online" stand for a CMS system?

You can login on a page and then edit or place content directly online (text and pictures) You can also give the ability for users to create an account from the website so they can also edit directly online after making an account.

so Yes.

6. If yes, will the CMS system be available for the e-commerce part as well? E.g. updates to the product list.

Not to my knowledge it's only for a webpage.

7. Is there a counter how many items are still in stock so that we do not oversell?

No, there is no control of stock, but there is an option to give the customer an idea of the stock by adding a small icon with colour and a note on stock or not on stock or awaiting delivery from supplier.

9. What exactly does the Premium online website control panel do?

It checks your project on mistakes and advises to make your website better / faster and gives you a summary of your website statistics (size project size, number of pages and products.

10. Is there a whitepaper available with a DETAILED DESCRIOPTION of the features / differences between Evolution and Professional?

The one I already mentioned but I think you have already seen this one.

But on the website there is a lot of info.

Hello and thank you for the answers. In the meantime I managed to download the demo and do some testing and here are my results.

The software looks nice, many new features, I like the tabbed tables very much, but there are also things that drive me crazy.

For example what is the use of the advertising corner if you are not able to use own graphics and the built in designs are 1. terribly outdated (early 90s clip-art style) and ugly and 2. not in your language? If a designer would offer me something like this, I would think he lost his mind. Not to speak about the built-in templates and the royalty-free photos, in many (most) cases they are really outdated and unusable.

What is much more important, there is a database where users can self-register (finally!) and you can record e-commerce orders into a database (finally!), BUT you are not able to link the user database with the e-commerce database, so your customers have to fill-in their details over and over again and you have no possibility to give individual discounts, etc., so ultimately you are losing business.

The stock control function in the e-commerce module is far from being a professional tool too. You only have the option to tick (on each individual item) one of 3 states - in stock, limited, out of stock, but no connection to a database and no automatic countdown... You have to change each individual item manually over and over again.

The dynamic content is quite primitive (not to say idiotic) too. It is a very basic text box that you can edit directly in browser, but the formatting options are very, very limited. The text can only be black (so if you have black background, you are doomed), images can not be uploaded, but only linked from existing on-line locations. This is not a CMS, sorry.

My verdict: Most likely I will buy the thing before Oct. 15 for the discounted price, but I must say that the product has some significant improvements, but is still very far from being a "Professional" tool.

And one more thing that is very important to me.

I urgently need a way (or workaround) so that the order IDs given to orders in the e-commerce section are in a NUMBERS ONLY format so that the order ID can be used as a variable symbol for bank transfer payments. Without that I have to look for another e-commerce solution.

Hello Martin,

For the request I would like to suggest that you open an "Idea" Post where you describe to us the feature you would like to see implemented in the future releases of WebSite X5.

Many thanks!

Dear Claudio, I would like to suggest that you just take the above as the description of a feature that I would like to see implemented as soon as possible.

I do not see any reason as to why it should be necessary to waste time and tell you twice.

Thank you for understanding

Martin
