Churchyard Grave records online  en

Am using version 8.016.  Would like to store on website data records of 1000 graves (currently in excel file as  surname, christian name, year of death and plot number) with 2000 .jpg images. Churchyard is divided into 17 portions for recording purposes (if that helps?)

Need to make A - Z and chronological listed data searchable by name and by year of death to link with either single or multiple images for each particular headstone/written record if words invisible to camera.

Does anyone a simple solution - and yes I know its going to be time consuming!

Thanks for any help you may be able to give.

Hello Roger C.,

It will be necessary to create different pages where you add the list and then you can choose to create for every entry a different page, which would mean 1000 pages only for the entries, or divide more of them on the same page. In this way they can be searched by the internal search engine. When the name and the date is written as text in the project it will be searchable.

Many thanks!

hi there thanks for your suggestion, I wonder if there is any mileage in the following method, as 1000 pages plus images is somewhat daunting?

Could I place a clickable A - Z list on the webpage which is linked to all surname cells of that initial in an excel file?  All the 'C's for example are then are revealed, thus allowing the webpage visitor to select the individual record - clicking on the surname in the excel extract which in turn is linked to a stored image - presumably in a hidden gallery? Up pops the image with ledgible words   and hopefully job done?

If only a year of death is known, I am wonder if a dedicated search engine attached only to the same Excel file would pull up all results for the chosen year - one of which can be selected as above?

Any chance of this working and if so how do I link please?

Would be v grateful of any suggestions

Many thank

Hello Roger,

It is not possible to add links to a specific point in an excel file. You need to create the different pages where you add all names starting with A then another with B and so on.

Then for every name you create a new page, which can bw hidden, and in this you add the gallery and then you link this page to the name.

the search engine cannot search in excel files. All needs to be in the project otherwise it is not indexed and shown as result.

Many thanks!
