Hello

My site extension is HTM not HTML but when I remove the L in HTML the site still previews as .HTML.

Is there a way to change all extensions to .HTM

Thank you for any help on this.

Michael,

It is pritty standard to use html, but htm will work as well.

The preview will always be html.

But can you tell me why do you ask ? Is this creating any problems of some kind ?

There should be no difference's (there are on a minor part but it's not worth mentioning without knowing if there are any problems)

Thanks Andre

There is no issue it is just the site I am working on has all pages as .htm and do not want to mess with the rankings as the pages already have high rankings with the .htm as the extension so want to keep the page names with .htm.

Or it does not matter with the rankings if I put .htm or .html although Google has the pages registered as .htm.

Thank you

Michael

For the preview it does not matter, it's loaded from your harddrive.

I assume the high ranked site is not made with x5 and you do not want to replace it with x5?

Because changing an x5 code to htm and upload will give trouble finding your pages because they are adressed absolute from your menu.

So in that case without good knowledge of html don't go there.

I'm really not shure how Google ranking wil react.

Let me know if you need more info.

Thanks Andre

I do want to replace with X5 I just have to keep the .htm extension and keep the page names so these will not change but did not want to use the .html or this might mess all ranking up.

Have you try'd already? make a backup ! And test before you upload, you need to change inside the code also the links to the internal pages. They are also set to page.html in x5.

if you change the page name only and not the code that referres to that page , the link in your menu and on other places wil not find the programed link page.html, because it does not exist any mmore.

So you need to change that as well !!

Andre

I did a disk back and the .htm links worked in the menu navigation and links so I am thinking all will be fine to convert to X5.

Thank you again.
