Searchable galleries and gap  en

Author: John P.

I've just found out that the text i write about each picture in my picture-galleries isn't searchable on Google and on Google pictures. How do i fix so that they become that? I've got lots of pictures of beautiful beaches and stuff, and thinks that people should be able to find these when they're searching after these places on the net.

Also, in most of my pages there's a big gap between where the text is ending and the galleries start. And i have no room inbetween them when i'm writing it. How can i fix this? Look here for an example

Thanks in advance.

you need to include your pictures inside your sitemap, also make sure fill these field:

title

alternative text

then go to sitemap tab and fill these fields

title

caption

then go to google webmater tools and re-submit your sitemap.xml

it will take time untill google start reading your site. nothing will change over night, specialy when you dealing with google. give it some times like 2-3 weeks

Hey, thanks for your answer.

Well, i only find the sitemap-option for the lone pictures i've submitted. Where is that field for the gallery-pictures (99 % of the pictures i submit is in galleries, mostly in "thumbnails pr frame")? These pictures need to be searchable.

Hello John,

The single images can be added in the sitemap but the gallery has not the same options. In any case the search engines fetches the pages and the images in it will be indexed too.

Many thanks!

just make sure your gallery has permission for google bot.

go to general setting, expert tab and and look for the line below inside your robots.txt, if it was there, remove it !

If i go to 1 general setting and then expert there are no robots.txt file there. I have marked the "automatically create a sitemap" window there. Are there some faults with my program or something else i should be doing to find this?

Looking through all my files and folders connected with my page in ftp i don't find any file named "sitemap" or "robots" either (though one named imsitemap).

Hello John,

The option to create the robots.txt file is only available in the Professional Edition.

If you activated the sitemap option this will create an sitemap.xml file which will be used by the search engines to index your website.

Many thanks!

So in other words, there are no ways to make photos in the webgalleries searchable in the internet by Website X5 Evolution 10.

Quite a BIG flaw in the program, and something you have to deal with in the next version, if you ask me :-)

john, here's robots.txt for you, uploaded to your website root.

open it and remove the xxxxxx with your domain address.

Hey, oh ok thank you, didn't see this until now.

I'll replace that text with my domain, save it, and upload robots.txt to my website with filezilla (an ftp-program). I hope that is the right way to do it.

Then my pictures will be searchable i hope :-)
