Basically I'm trying to overlay text in the footer area but I LOOSE the transparency.

I have uploaded a GIF in the as a FOOTER BACKGROUND under CUSTOM TEMPLATES. I also set the FOOTER at this stage to be Transparent under footer colour. I then progess on to EDIT TEMPLATE GRAPHICS here I select FOOTER. Before entering and data in this field the background of the FOOTER is indeed transparent in the PREVIEW and I am able to see the graphic I placed in the FOOTER BACKGROUND. The moment I add any text the FOOTER becomes a big black box over my graphic below when viewed in the preview? Surely this is not correct???
