Website Restoration and Importing Downloaded files  en

My website was written in Evo 9. My computer and the backups were stolen. I have reinstalled a new copy of Evo 10 on a new machine. I need my website files to be reinstalled. My website was hosted with Godaddy. They have my files on their server. I can download all the files with Fileza to my computer and save them in another folder on my local machine. As I understand Websitex5 Evo 10 once I download the files to a local folder I can then import the files into Website Evo 10 and begin anew with those files. My copy of Evo 9 has been disable due to the upgrade so the only working copy I have is my Evo 10 disk. I want to preserve this website because it had high analytics which I am not sure that I can duplicate easily.

Is this approach correct or is there something that I must do before I am required to rewrite the entire website?

you can not import published website, you can only import project or backup project files.

you need to start to create your entire website. the good part is you can see the source code, so you have access to graphic files, languages, etc

Let me be clear then and please clarify. Please forgive me. The manual states that I can download files from the server.  What files am I am able to download and of what value are they to me if I can not utilize them?  Is the download wizard in WebsiteX5 useless?  What files do I need to download and why?  As I prevously mentioned I can download files from the server with Filezilla. I then have all of them.  If I download them I take it that they are useless with WebsiteX5, because they can't be imported, because they are not in the proper WebsiteX5 zip file format.

I just want to make sure I understand you correctly.

Thanks

I have no clue why they put that in there, in which page incomedia put that in there?

are you talking about page 217?

"Upload file to Server / Download the selected file from the Server
You can publish one or more files on the server that are not part of the project, or you can download files published on the server to your computer."

see page 222 (9.1 General setting) you can see the different methods of recovery, but they are all talk about project file and not published website.

you can always have a back up inside your computer (different drive) or save them of cd, flash drive, etc

I do not work for incomedia, but I worked with x5 enough to know what can and can not do.

sorry man, but you need to create your website again, if you don't have any access to your old computer/project file.
