I want to link a FREE downloadable PDF to a page in my site. I want to capture email info and then let them download the document. Is there a fairly simple way to do that? I don't want to build a whole store (way too much trouble for both me and the person trying to get the report, And I'm not sure I could get it set up properly anyway)

just set up a form in one page to ask for their info, setup another page with the link for your pdf file, then make that page hidden (to not to show in your menu), then go back to your form object that you set up for getting their info, set the confirmation page to the page that has pdf link.

Thats all

I think I understand.  Will give it a try and see.  Thanks so much for the quick response. I read som where that I need to make a change to the htaccess file in order to force the .pdf to download.  Is that true?

no, that depend on visitors browser, if they have pdf plugin inside their browser, they can view it and they can save it, its the same as download , if they dont have the plugin, then it will download it for them.

Hello Gene,

You can force the download of a file with specific .htaccess instructions.

If you want to avoid to create a .htaccess file you can simply zip the pdf file because all browses automatically downloads them.

Many thanks!
