Search in e-shop only  en

Hello, is it possible to set-up a search field so that the search is conducted only in the e-shop? Eventually I would have no problem to divide the project into two parts, one for the main website and the other for the shop (www.nazdabori.cz and shop.nazdabori.cz) that would be linked to each other. Would it be a problem, if both parts would point to the same database? I would also like to have the search field in the body of the page (no problem to create it on every page) instead of in the header.

Thank you Martin

This is NOT the same question, Anthony.

The main topic of this question is if it would be a problem to divide my website into two separate projects hosted on the same server that would both point to the same database.

This would enable me to put a search field only to the e-shop part of the site.

At the same time I am using a blog on the website.

The e-shop and the blog use the same MYSQL database as they are currently part of the same project.

Given I divide the website into two separate projects, one for the main website with the blog and a second one for the e-shop only and I still want them to be interlinked and hosted on the same server with one MYSQL database, is it possible to point both projects to the same database?

As this is not a project under construction, but a running project for a paying client, I would very much appreciate to know if that what I intent to do is safe before I f*ck something up.

As I paid for the Professional version of X5, I expect professional level of support.

Thank you.

if you want to divide your website and use the same database, then you need to create a sub-domain and add your shop inside your subdomain, you can name it eshop.yourdomain.com

if you have a blog inside e shop part, your search will show your blog as well.

remember, after submitting your website url to google, you need to mix your 2 sitemap.xml into one sitemap.xml. since both websites are sitting on the same root name, google will only read 1 sitemap.

Thank you Anthony,

as I write above, there is a blog on the main site, not in the e-shop. If the blog was in the e-shop part, there would be no concern about both projects pointing to the same database.

Hello Martin,

Every function uses a different table in the database and only the guestbook comments, the dynamic content object and the orders are stored in the DB so it would not be a problem.

Many thanks!
