Google Chrome video problem  en

Visitors to my site are having difficulty viewing videos created with the Website X5 "video player", when viewing on Google Chrome!

They have to install a Google Chrome extension by going into "Tools", clicking on "Extensions", ticking "developer mode" and then having to drag Windows Media Player extension in.

CHROME does give you a step-by-step guide.

However, those people reporting the problem to me can only just about log onto a computer, never mind attempt anything technical!

What say you oh Incomedia Gods?

Nigel

Hi Lech...

For some reason I have mistakenly confused the report!

I SHOULD have stated that the particular files in question are "mp3" files!

Website X5 plays them on a Windows Media player within the browser.

Google Chrome creates the problem described above.

I use "mp3" files as I require certain visitors to download them and the "mp3" format is more acceptable.

Best,

Nigel

Hello Nigel,

for the mp3 file is necessar the plugin of the Google Chrome, you can use a file .flv or nother format for the preview and add a link to download the .mp3 file.

Hope this help.

Hi there Riccardo.

I understand this fine but some visitors going to the particular page are not computer literate. They are unable to cope with anything that makes them have to think.

This whole problem means that many visitors unknown to me just leave the site.

It is only that I have some personal stuff for my friends that I have learnt about it as they have emailed me.

Don't you feel that your programmers should make sure that aspects of the software like this should be made more user friendly?

Nigel, convert them to mp4 (m4a)as well, add both to your player, by default each browser will play the campatible one ( as long as you are using html5 player).

Thanks Anthony for your input and I understand your advice.

However, what I am trying to encourage is that Incomedia (Riccardo?) will deal with this in such a way as to facilitate a note/software update at the project stage.

I run another site to promote my work and I haven't been made aware of this anomoloy. The people who visit that site would not tell me about problems in downloading material they just move on to another candidate.

Best wishes
