When I try to preview my site the page loads but locks for about 30 seconds before windows annouces it cannot reach "\\x.vindicosuite.com/imp"  and "log.sitemeter.com".

I have never heard of vinicosuite.

I do use sitemeter but I cannot find the code for it.

What cookies does X5 set and where ddo I control them?

Thanks.

Hello David,

Verify to not have added any custom html code in the project and use an antivirus to check the computer like gabriele suggested since it could be a malware is present which causes this issue in Internet Explorer which is used for the preview.

Many thanks!

Thank you both for your comments.

I have scanned throughly, with Malwarebytes and my normal Avast and the computer has come up clean.  I normally use Chrome as a browser so I will see if I.E. is doing anything odd.

My Website:

http://www.bournemouthtn.org.uk/

Uses sitemeter with this code in the Template footer:

<!-- HTML -->
<!-- Site Meter -->
[removed]
[removed]

<!-- Copyright (c)2009 Site Meter -->

I cannot find any reference to vindicosuite.

Where else should I look?

For now I have patched my hosts file which at least reduces the wait when I preview.

regards

David

Hello David,

Sitemeter is not added by the program probably some malware left some files around or modified the files of the projects.

I would suggest you also to uninstall and then reinstall the program after you verified deeply your computer.

Many thanks!

Many thanks for your help Claudio, but in the end I did what I should have done first and went to the Sitemeter site and read their privacy policy, which changed in May this year.

"Interactive Media Holdings, Inc. is a digital media company comprised of a family of companies that includes the Vindico,Specific Media and Site Meter businesses"

It is a VERY long document with many links but it backs up what I found, the link to Vindico comes from the Sitemeter Javascript.

I have removed the sitemeter code and the problem has gone away.

I hope this helps anyone else who searches about this problem.

Best regards

David
