I Dont want to use database for orders...just Emails!  en

Hi,

I have just updated to the Latest X5 Pro V10.  I have always had my online orders email me, and have had no issues until now.

I dont get emails.....and neither do my customers of the order confirmation.  The only email I get is from Paypal saying that someone has paid for an order!!

I am not advanced enough to use or set up a database for the orders and just want to have the orders emailed to me.

Can someone please help me change the settings back to what they used to be?

Hi Bret,

I have had this problem and I believe it was mainly related to the server, particularly the php version the server is using - mine is now version 5.4 - it was 5.3 when I had most of the problems.

I also think I had problems with the smtp server of the hosting provider because if it happens randomly like my problem it's probably not related to the program but rather to the host service. This is because the program sends the e-mail immediately and then the smtp server of the hosting provider has to send them to you and the customer.

I am not that good at databases but I decided to one set up to record all the orders because then a record is then kept on the site as the order is made and before the emails are sent. The emails are sent as before, but if one goes missing I can log into the database and recover the order that relates to the PayPal payment I have received - and the customer never needs to know of the problem…

That said, I haven’t experienced the problem since I set up the database, so I cannot absolutely guarantee it works when the error occurs!

Setting up the database is not that hard – It’s really just a case of getting the database names and passwords setup in the correct places… You just have to site in a quiet, darkened room, read through a few of the help files you can find online relating to setting up an SQL database.

Good luck.

Best Regards,

Mark.
