Mobile web sites and apps  en

1.  Are there any live examples of "mobile apps" using websitex5 pro

2.  How would one automate a websitex5 site so when a user visits a website, the website "knows" if they are on a mobile device or not and then go to the correct site.

3.  Is there a way to create a site in both mobile and regular format  without making changes in 2 places?

Hello William, considering you're a X5 user, been on the forum for 4 years and an experienced web builder I find your questions a little odd. But you have asked, so......

1.  Have not seen any myself. (All the sites I've checked on an I-phone 4S made with Evo 10 and up have opened full screen. And all the touch functions worked.)

2.  You cannot, using only native features of X5, you would have to insert code for a redirect or add an extra menu button. (Search "mobile redirect", 201 results.)

3.  Not with X5 any version. You would need two seperate websites as X5 only allows one template per project so your mobile pages can not be part of your regular site. So you would have a sub-site such as "tuckspixs.com/mobile" pending your host. (Depending how you look at it, this could be an advantage as you have a choice in making your mobile site and could make it one long scrolling page with reduced content.)

Once again search the forum with "mobile" and "responsive" as many posts have already been made in these areas.  I'd be sure you have already checked Evo vs Pro as there is not a lot of difference for the normal user except the huge increase in price.

Have a safe holiday and long weekend. Don't breath in too much of that fresh salt air off Lake Michigan either.

Thanks.  I have used x5 for many years and I like it. I did not think what I wanted to do was possbile but I thought I would ask.  As far as me being an experienced designer... well I ues x5 well but I am very weak on HTML so that is why I had the  question  about the redirect.

Merry Chirstmas to you too.

Actually I did not word the first question quite right.  On the pro version there is a moble app feature.  I was wondering if there is an example of an actual mobile app.  There is a resturant that wants to beable to push information to people, like there specials and so forth so I wanted to see one that someone else has done.

Hello William,

The Professional Edition offers the opportunity to send push notification to users who follows the website with the mobile App FeedReady. This app with the program allows to inform the users when you publish new content in the rss feed or the blog so you keep the visitors always updated.

Many thanks!

William, if I remember correctly it was last year, I made one but I think I removed it because the app name was incomedia, it if my website is xcv.com, my app name should be xcv as well when visitors going to download it, at that time I was using v.10 pro. I do not know anything been changed in v.11 pro or not, not tried out yet.
