Background videos no longer working in newest version of Google Chrome (v.66)  en

I have a site (www.vfcarwash.com) that has a video as the background of the 2 content rows on the home page. This site was created with Website X5 Professional 14. Up until Google launched version 66 of their Chrome browser (which is supposed to stop some autoplay videos), the video automatically played in the background as soon as the visitor arrived at the site.

Now, after updating my Chrome browser to version 66, the background video no longer automatically plays when the visitor arrives on the page. It just shows a still image of the video.  However, the video does start playing if the visitor clicks on any of the other page links, and then returns to the home page.  This really isn't useful though, because there isn't any reason to return to the home page after visiting the inner pages.

Note that the video on the home page does still autoplay in Firefox and MS Internet Explorer, just not in the newest version of Google Chrome.  But since the vast majority of visitors are using Chrome, this is quite important.

I know it's possible to get a background video to play automatically because there is a site for a similar car wash company where the background video does start playing automatically as soon as the visitor arrives, without having to click on anything (that site is www.brownbear.com).

So how do we get our row background videos to autoplay in Google Chrome v.66 in our sites created with Website X5, now that Google has changed the browser?  Is there something that needs to be updated in the Website X5 software, or is there a video format that's required to bypass this new Chrome update (the video I'm using is an mp4, h.264, 1280x720 @ 29fps).  It's obviously possible (e.g. www.brownbear.com), but my background video no longer plays automatically as of Chrome v.66 update.

Note: Even when previewing the page in the Website X5 software, I now get a message from the software that tells me to try a different browser because row format video backgrounds can't be played in this browser.

Audio is not the issue.  There is no audio track on this background video.  It was removed when the video was optimized for web.

KolAsim, in the examples you provided... are those page background videos or are they row format background videos?  Is there a difference in how Chrome handles?  The message I am receiving from Website X5 specifies that "the video Background in Row Formats can't be played."

Just something else Jason,

Google takes the loading time of website's also into consideration while creating there index for SEO.

The more (big)pictures and movies, the slower the loading. For users it is often annoying on handhelds without wifi.

So keep that in mind as a small tip in your design!

Best Regards
