16.04 crashes frequently. I just recently upgraded to it. This was not at all a problem earlier with 13 or 15 What to do?

Urgent help required. The files don't even  open in version 15 as it says that files developed in later version

Pulak, could you please provide more details.

For instance, if you create a new project, does WX5 crash and if so, when.

Did you perhaps directly open v13 projects in v16 without first export the poject and then importing the iwzip file?

When you opened your old projects (13 & 15), did you take advantage of the option to first create a copy of the project? If you did, you can open the copy in the older version.

Danielle, in your case has it previously been stable and recently started mis-behaving or is this the first work being done on a new or imported project?

I ask because I have had to deal with 2 PC's in recent days that software became erratic on (they don't use WX5), both cases were fixed by checking all windows updates were in place and then shut down and restart. Seems Windows had messed with it's own mind.

I am also aware of conflicts caused by onedrive.

Hi Esach,

Thanks for your answer.

Yesterday everything was working normally on my project created with V16.

I installed the update this morning before opening this project. Crashes started.

u need use iwzip copy of your project (I make a copy every two hours! i use different version name on each project v1.2,1.3 ... etc)! backup in this programm will not give 100 percent protection against the loss of the project!

Danielle, try temporarily disabling any spyware/malware/firewall software you may be running to see if stability returns.

I am not aware of any stability issues introduced in v16.0.4 sorry.

(& follow Aleksey's advice. Do not trust save or backup, export and create iwzip which can even offer a way back to v16.0.3 or earlier if required)

Hi Esach,

I imported the projetc from 15 to 16.  It worked fine till i made the website and exported it to disc. When I wanted to make corrections in website later, then with after few  edits, it started to crash. This happened ten times. This was not a problem with 13 or 15 version.

I have a windows defender anti virus and original windows10 fully operating system. Updated till latest.

Your reply to my earlier query is quoted beneath.

Pulak (& Melissa)

I have marked your post for Incomedia's attention (I have run out of ideas sorry).

If either of you create a new project, does it too suffer instability?

Is OneDrive (or similar) synchronising you documents directory?

Pulak - you say after export then make a few edits - are these simply word addition/changes, map structure, menu or header/footer changes?

Esahc - after every two or three changes, be it word or map structure or header, the site crashes.

I'll try to make a fresh site in 16 version and check outif that too crashes, but sites once edited in 16 version cannot run or be edited in older versions, so I am going to first re do the website in version 15 now and edit from 15 itself till your version 16 stabilizies. Luckily i have both the 13 and 15 versions still on my laptop.

This would mean lot of work for me as i had imported my sites to 16 and have worked on them. I have ben using WX5 since its 12 version, so I have lots of extra work  because of version 16 being unstable

Meanwhile I do look for solution to this version 16 problem.

Pulak, if WX5 is crashing, I have found in the past that saving before preview helps stability, as does ctrl+preview. I also make extensive use of step5 export project to create an iwzip for use in case of catastrophe. I have found v16 at least as stable as v15 & v14 as long as I am working locally on an unsynchronised directory.

Hi Pulak.

Right now, the developers are hard at work in order to solve most of the crashes that are happening on the software during these particular operations.

I would like to ask you to wait until the next stable update is released in order to be able to test these fixes and report back to me whether your specific issue is resolved.

Should it not be, please get back to me here then

Thank you

Stefano
