To replicate this problem: 1.) Go to template. 2.) Text, field and button style. 3.) Click on button. 4.) Change margins. 5.) Check existing buttons on pages, you will notice they are stuck on the old margin settings.

Hello Craig,
I don't have the software in front of me to check at this precise moment, but can you confirm that you cleared your browser cache before testing?
WebSite X5 doesn't make retrospective changes to certain design elements. For example, if you create a block of text in a Text Object where the default font is Arial, and you subsequently alter the default font for the Text Object to Times New Roman, then any new Text Objects which you create will use Times New Roman. However, the older Text Objects will continue to display as Arial.
I suspect this is similar to what you have experienced today as regards buttons?
In some cases holding down the CTRL key whilst entering the Preview mode in WebSite X5 will force a change to an element. I suggest trying this along with clearing your browser cache after upload.
Kind regards,
Paul

Hi Paul,
I use the built-in browser/preview window. I tried CTRL, but that didn't work either. I then tried using Chrome, but same result unfortunately.
I guess if that is how web designers are used to working with W5 it will have to stay that way; but it is at odds with the norm in terms of website builders / design software (where the aim is to make is easy to implement site wide changes).
Perhaps the W5 developers could add an option to allow the user to decide.
Yes, it would be a good option to have... I completely agree.
If you want we can set this thread as an 'Idea' to bring it to the attention of the developers?
Hi Craig & Paul,
(Do I understand the question correctly?)
Seems to be a bug from the last update. If you create a 200 x 25 form button, it displays as 100 x 60 (approximately).
Regards,
J.P.
Could be J.P. - thanks for this information.
I haven't been able to test myself yet as no access to computer.
Will set for Incomedia's attention, perhaps?
Hi Paul,
I just tested it. Button design (and preview not good):

To be continued...
I'm wondering if this doesn't also affect the e-commerce cart buttons?

Okay great!

I didn't notice that. Might be related?
I haven't set the thread as an 'Idea' yet, Craig, in the light of Jiper's additional findings.
Have asked Incomedia for support on this.
Hello everyone
I've tested this but it seems to work fine for me. I've seen @Jiper's test but isn't that the Contact Form button?
That button is customized inside the Contact Form Object, so the Step 2 settings will have no effect. These settings can change default buttons though, like the ones that appear in the Registration page or the cart
Can you verify there?
Keep me posted here
Thank you
Stefano
Hi All!
Oupsss! Forgive my mistake. Not good to grow old
I confused the form buttons and the others button conception. Forget everything I said.
Thousand excuses!!

Hi Stefano,
In my original post I was referring to the buttons object that can be added to any page... not to the contact form object. 1.) Go to template. 2.) Text, field and button style. 3.) Click on button. 4.) Change margins. 5.) Check existing buttons on pages, you will notice they are stuck on the old margin settings.
Hello Craig
The Button Object specifically has its own customization fields. Did you try using those?
It would make sense that they would follow the configuration for them specifically instead of the generic one
Can you try that and keep me posted here?
Thank you
Stefano

Hi Stefano,
No, I am not being clear enough perhaps. To reproduce: 1.) Go to template. 2.) Select "Text, field and button style". 3.) Click on the button to set the UNIVERSAL/GLOBAL button style for the whole site. 4.) Change margins, lets say to "7;3". 5.) Now go to a page and make a button using button object. 6. Now go back to "template" -> "Text, field and button style". Click on the button and change the margins to "5;3". 6.) Go back to the new button you just created on a page in step 5... double click on it and look at the margin setting... you will notice it is stuck on 7;3 and did not update to the new universal margin.
Hello Craig
This is correct, as I explained before. The Button Object specifically has its own customization fields. The global settings are only there for buttons auto-generated by the software
The Object Button customized itself only
Try it out and keep me posted on this
Thank you
Stefano

Hi Stefano,
Can you clarify please. What do you mean by buttons 'auto generated' by the software?
Hello Craig
Of course. By "auto-generated" buttons I'm talking about buttons such as the ones that appear in the Checkout process, the one that appears in the Comments and Rating Object or the ones that appear when you activate the Automatic Registration of the users
These are the kinds of buttons that inherit their style from Step 2
I hope I was clearer this time
Thank you
Stefano

Hi Stefano,
Thanks I understand now.
