I am trying to update my school webstie from X5 Evolution version 10  to X5 Pro. I tried to export my Website from Evolution 10.1.12.57 to my computer but it stops at 99% and gives the following message

'End of central directory record could not be found.'

and when I try to import it it also fails. I wonder can someone help me? I notice the old website evolution  file exported has the new pro logo on it though. Should I uninstall the new Pro version and then try to export it? Then install the new Pro version and import it?

Our website is http://www.rathgaroguens.com/

Hello Colette

Much have changed since the v. 10.

You will get the best result by starting from scratch in the new version.

It will go rather quick as you can use the old images and text. Keep the old site until you have the new.

Make some experiments with the menu - this is one of the big changes.

Hello Colette,

If evolution 10 still works then find the project folder (start up gae -> preference

do the same in x5 pro and set the project folder there exactly as in v10.

Then you  should see the projects in x5 pro like tuou do in v10.

Try to open the project and hopefully it will load. if so do directle and export project in step 5 so you have a backup.

Do this regurly, if it does not work i hope you have a backup somewhere if so try to export that one.

But Jhon's idea is not bad, there are a lot of changes so if the site is not very big starting againg is also an option due to the many changes, make regulair backups during new build, 9step 5 export project) you never know....

Thanks John S  I was trying to avoid starting the whole thing from scratch because although it is only a school website there is a whole school history on it going back years that I was trying to keep for posterity. If I restart I will not be recreating any of that. Also there are a huge number of school plans and policies that will have to be re uploaded. Hopefully with the pro version that will be easier.

Thanks  Andre but your idea didn't work. I had high hopes it would. It just seems that my export to create a back up of the original is falling at the last minute so I can't import it.

If anyone has any other ideas I would appreciate it - but it looks like i'll have to start all over. Thanks Guys.

Colette, you appear to have 2 problems. In the first place there appears to be a corruption in your project which will not allow the creation of an iwzip file. The second problem is that even if successful, v2020.3 cannot import from v10 (only v11 or later).

If you can successfully create an iwzip then one of us would be happy to import it at least to an interim version so you can proceed, failing this, perhaps you can package up the whole project as a zip file (the default directory was Documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 v10 - Evolution) and one of us could attempt to open it first in v10, and then in v11

Having written the above I see from your website link that you have proceeded to start from scratch. This will indeed produce a better (easier) result, but if the lost content from the old website is an issue, then I would be pleased to assist if you wish.

As an alternative

You could create a directory (eg archive) in your website hosting directory. Here you could upload the old v10 site. It would be a simple matter to add a link or menu item to open the old archived site so that the older photos, history, etc are never lost.
