I posted earlier today, but received no comments. I have been working on the site all day and still am having the issue with a generic error on the final page of my cart. After inputting the address, etc., and then accepting the terms and conditions, I get the following message (see image attached). I really hope someone can walk me through this. I did refresh my website (control F5). And I was hoping I could find where the final "Buy Now" button gets linked to, but I cannot find a link. Also, I sucessfully connected my PayPal account to the program. I am just at a standstill. Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

im having same issue with latest update 2021.2
it was not happening with 2021.1

Hi Luis. Thanks for sharing. Do you know if there is a way to roll back to 2021.1?
im not sure, i think if you had backup of previous project before updating, you can use that...im not any other way, maybe some of the mods here can recommend something.

I tried opening an older project, an earlier version from before the 2021.2 upgrade. When I opened it, there was a message that it was an older version and the message said something like this is an older version and will be upgrades to the new version there was no option to open it as 2021.1 Were you able to fix it you site or is tour shopping cart still technically down due to the error,
Charlene & Luis, now that you have upgraded to WX5 v2021.2.2 you can go to your profile (top right this page), click download, select "do you want to download a different version" and download v2021.1.5 (if required your license is also available in your profile)
You can then install v2021.1.5 and it will happily coexist with v2021.2.2 (if you find it confusing you can create a different default directory in preferences to keep old and updated projects apart as I do).
Charlene, Louis,
Try website again after setting php 8.0 in your portal from your webhost, latest version has been updated to php8, and there are a lot of changes in php programming. So try this and let us know if this has helped.

Thanks for this suggestion. I use GoDaddy and I just checked the cPanel. My current php version is 7.3. The only higher option is version 7.4. Shall I try changing from 7.3 to 7.4?
you could give it a try, is only paypall not working or other payments as well?
Else download like Esahx say's the previous version, just remember changes made on the new version you nee do again on the backup that x5 has automaticly made.
Then maybe wait until provider delivers php version 8 and then try again.
Maybe Louis can test v8? and reply result here?

The only thing I have observed that is not working is the final "Buy Now" after I have inputted an address, shipping method, etc. Then the final page comes up with "Accept terms and conditions" which I clicked to accept. Then underneath that is what I call the final "Buy Now" button. That is when I get the generic error (image attached of that screen). I went ahead and updated PHP to 7.4 on GoDaddy, and GoDaddy's instructions say it could take 2-4 hours to get updated. So I will check again in a few hours. According to GoDaddy's forums they report PHP 8 will be "available in March." I will chat with them to ask support if this is really going to be updated soon.
well after deleting all website files from host. I then reuploaded all website files from scratch with the new project version 2021.2.2
Issue dissappeard after that i also had to clear my browser cache.

Hi Luis. I am so happy this worked for you. I reuploaded my website by selecting the option "upload all internet files" so that it would reupload the entire project. I cleared my cache, but I am still getting the generic error. I have also tried using a different browser, and a different computer, but still am generating the error.
. . . but Luis deleted all files on the host before upload. Did you try this??
Autor
I was hopeful that by uploading the entire site it would overwrite everything. Deleting files from the hist, GoDaddy, is beyond my expertise. I guess I will have to contact them about that.

Do you think if I changed hosts to one that websitex5 recommends that it would fix my problem?
If you select upload in step5 there is open folder icon, if you select that you will see the files on your webserver, you can select all by useng ctrl key and click (one by one) or use top folder, select that, then select lowest file in the list and do this with shift button, than all files and folders should selected, then delete with red cross button on top.
Be carefull someone on your site at that moment will get an error! so choose your time to do this where you expect to have the lowest possible visitors.
After full uppload everything should be fine.

Thanks for that great info. Is it possible that I might accidentally delete something integral to the site which would screw it up? After I do the deletion, do I just do a full normal upload again?
first i think you should download/backup all your current website to your machine into a separate folder.
after you have backed up everything.
Delete everything in your website folder host
example /public_html/mysite/....
then using websitex5 ftp, go ahead and re-upload everything.
see if that helps.

Thanks Andre and Luis for walking me through this. I am going to try it on Sunday and I will definitely report back to you. It sounds encouraging!!
Same problem. My installation did not work, from server i got "generic error" when i tried to send an order in last stage in my shiny new webshop. When i check my web service setup, my cheap solution/service did not support PHP at all . I had to upgrade to "5GB" webhotel, 3 dollars a month, to get PHP 7.4 support. If that was the problem, it will work tomorrow morning. I'll be back
Hopefully someone get's a good working solution, too many users have this so there might be something in code, in x5 or with php version update.
if you want to be sure switchback to previous version, and then try to test later on with later version to see if you can get that to work.

Hi and thanks to everyone for the responses. This morning I deleted all the files from my site & then I uploaded the website in its entirety. I am still getting the generic error on the final "Buy Now" page of the cart. Image from this morning is below. So this remains unresolved....
Ok, Charlene, thanks for the feedback,
Then for now switching back might be the only solution.
Install PHP 7.4. Delete all files in main folder on server and republish all files. Press Ctrl-F5. Delete Cookies.
Nope. Still get "genetic error" from server in webshop when try to send order.
I also tried some configurations in Settings - Advanced - Data Management - E-mail.
But no - same error - same problem.
Logged in to /admin Control Panel and tested E-mail sending. It worked. E-mail arrived OK.
Vacation?
Hello Charlene, Andresen
The error 500 is a very generic error which is not a clear indicator of the issue. However, such an error is usually used by hosting providers to mask the real error, to which they have access.
I need to ask you to please get in touch with your hosting provider directly and let them tell you what the correct error is.
Then, let me know here and I will investigate the matter further for you
Keep me posted
Stefano

Thanks, Stefano. I will absolutely add this to my issues to discuss with GoDaddy when I call them today!

Hi again. I had a lengthy conversation with GoDaddy, and they conclude that the generic error must be on my side .... Is there any way to have someone look at the structure of my site to see if they think something is missing which is preventing the final Buy Now button to generate an error?
The error has been reported more then once after the update, hopefully Incomedia will have a closer look!
Hello, with the new version 2021.2.2, it seems that once updated, there have been alot of PHP errors and errors on the whole. I also contacted my hosting provider and they stated the error was not on their end. You can read the thread I started here: https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/es/post/239467#18
However, I read through this comment section and followed the suggestion of Luis J.
I backed up my project, deleted my files on my hosting Provider's end and cleared all my cookies and cache.
I then added the file: public_html on my CPanel File Manager as you can see below:
I uploaded the files from the backed up project and now I get no errors anywhere on my site. Everything works fine.

Hello Emmanuel, and thank you for sharing your experience. I previously tried deleting the server files (through websitex5) and then reuploaded (which did not work), I will try doing the deletion and upload directly from the Cpanel at GoDaddy. It took a long time for the files to be deleted, so I may not try that again until I feel there may not be users navigating to our site. So nice for you to share and happy that it worked for you. It gives me some hope!
Hello
Long time ago I have had this error !!!
Do you have a directory like this on your server.
For my problem, I had an email_log.txt file inside this directory and the content was:
[2019-06-21 17:40:30] The following From address failed: *** : MAIL FROM command failed,<***>: Sender address rejected: not owned by user ***,553,5.7.1SMTP server error: MAIL FROM command failed Detail: <***>: Sender address rejected: not owned by user ***
SMTP code: 553 Additional SMTP info: 5.7.1SMTP server error: MAIL FROM command failed Detail: <***>: Sender address rejected: not owned by user *** SMTP code: 553 Additional SMTP info: 5.7.1
But probably your order is registered into the DB. In this case it could be an issue with order confirmation email sending.
Pls check into your DB if the order is registered into the DB after the generic error.
Also you can check error.log for you webserver. Pls check on you panel administration if you can have an access to these logs.
You can have some errors like this about libray issue with PHP
[Tue Aug 04 16:42:58.273015 2020] [php7:notice] [pid 10528:tid 992] [client ::1:50195] PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function curl_init() in E:\\uwamp\\www\\wsx5plugins\\res\\x5engine.php:6906\nStack trace:\n#0 E:\\uwamp\\www\\wsx5plugins\\cart\\x5cart.php(90): Notifier->sendNotification('ECOMMERCE_ORDER', '{ "orderNumber"...')\n#1 {main}\n thrown in E:\\uwamp\\www\\wsx5plugins\\res\\x5engine.php on line 6906, referer: http://localhost/wsx5plugins/cart/index.html
and

By example here we have an error into x5engine at line 6906. And by checking the x5engine.php it's a email function at 6906 !!!
Hope this helps
Enjoy!

Charlene, I have exactly your problem, with Evo version after updating to 2021 2.3
Have you resolved? I deleted everything and re-uploaded the full site, but the problem is always there...My PHP version is 7.4.16
I have tried deleting all the files, including the actual folder on my Hosting Site (not GoDaddy), my PHP is version 7.4 and they do not have 8.0 scheduled for availability yet. I created a new folder with a different name, uploaded ALL files, cleared my cache and cookies in Chrome on Windows PC. Using PRO WX5 v2021.2.2.
Turned messages off in my PHP.INI file. That didn't help either.
Still getting the generic error.
NEED HELP To Resolve This Issue.

Hi Ken, I still have not resolved this issue. I am using EVO v2021.2.2. I tried deleting everything from the server, checking PHP which is v7.4 (no word when they will get 8.0). I cleared the cache and reuploaded. Still the same problem. I only receive the generic error when trying to do the final "Buy Now" in my cart. As a semi-work around, I placed a sticky object on the product page that says "Inquire Now" with a link to my email; which is not ideal. But hopefully if someone wants to buy something they will use that when they get the generic error. Fortunately, I seldom have sales online in this manner, but I still want to get it resolved so it works perfectly. Sorry I can't be of further help. Please let me know if you are ever able to resolve this.
Hey Charlene,
There is a beta released that it says it fixes that generic error for Evo users.
download it and try it out beta version 2021.2.4
Thanks Luis,
for more info see here:

see top right next to your name pull down -> preview / beta.

Hi, I don't think I am experienced enough to get into a beta version (plus I read that beta is only available for PRO users). But this morning when I launch websitex5 there is a message to upgrade to EVO v2021.2.4 and they list the following in the changelog. So I am wondering if you think I should do this upgrade. Thoughts?
WebSite X5 - Changelog04/01/2021 WebSite X5 - 2021.2.4Shopping cart

General
Yes go ahead and update it and accept the upgrade, i think it should take care of your generic error issue ...
usually the beta goes straight into full release - so you should not have any problems.
There is a beta for EVO, see top right next to your name pull down -> preview / beta.
you can instal it, it will work next to your own x5 version, but remember changes made with beta can not be used with the new release.
So you could give it a try if the website works it's great and then if real new version comes out, check change log and install that one and there you can continue to make new improvements. (you can in beta also but then you need to re do them in the original version later)
I would wait for new version, watch the change log to see if bug is resolved.

Thanks. Will try this!
Great Charlene, let us know if the beta works......

Great news! I updated to 2021.2.4 and now the shopping cart works perfectly! Thank you to everyone that assisted & very happy that the Incomedia staff came out with an updated version so quickly!
That's even better.
You are very welcome Charlene,
Thanks for the feedback!
