The New Built in File Manager
Autor: Gerrit D.Who is responsible for the new mess of a built in File Manager ???
Two sayings to remember.. "KISS", Keep it Simple Stupid. !!
And if it Aint Broke Do Not Fix It.
So I am now up the creek without a paddle, I can do absolutely zero site updates, as I can not add any updated product pdf's, because Your File Manager, is a total mess.
If you want to add functionality to the software , then add a built in Image Editor, not a non functioning File Manager.
It amazes me, I have been in IT for 40 years, and there will always be an IT Nerd that has to get some EGO satisfaction by showing off his skills, and in the pricess he screws up a perfectly good project..
Oh and there is one more saying to remember....
The Fish Always Rots from the Head
Fix the software, there are too many options for you to be complacent.

Gerrit de la Rey
Have you read this recent threat? https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/es/post/252782
I am not seeing the issue being reported.
Who is to blame if the car hits a tree - the car or the driver? Most of the time it's the one holding the steering wheel.
In the forum posts of the last few days there are many references to possible causes affecting the computer of the users.
Who is to blame if the car won't start - the car or the driver?
The builder of the car has made a vehicle that functions well as long as the temperature is between 5-15 degrees, and as long as there is no snow or ice on the road. Is this acceptable for you?
When you buy a car today, you expect it to function in all temperatures as long as it is not extreme. And it should function in sunny weather and when it is snowing and when there can be ice on the roads.
Some won’t even make it to the tree, because they have used the wrong fuel, or haven’t maintained the oil. Other’s neglect the tyres or brake pads; making the car unfit for purpose in the first place. God forbid that this whole mess is caused by a heart attack or stroke!
Since I’m lost & don’t drive anyway, I only have 2 questions:

Never mind, I have always viewed sarcasm as the domain of the dimwitted, and does not deserve a response.
There alternatives to this software,
Goodbye
I am not having this issue Gerrit.
I believe ctrl-click is the workaround for those with this issue, until an update is released.
I personally believe (based on my perception) that your Windows has become junked-up, and could probably do with refreshing (not recommended). But that’s my opinion.
I hope that this helps.
Hello Gerrit,
I am sorry to hear you aren't happy with the new File Management Window.
As far as why we decided to introduce this function, we focused on less "visible" and more technical aspects affecting the way the project files are managed so to introduce a feature that would bring benefits not only to a specific part of users that use a particular feature, but more generally to anyone who uses WebSite X5, regardless the kind of website they own, because these modifications improve and optimize the project management itself.
However, if you prefer the old way of importing files, you can open the Windows file explorer with the "CTRL+click" trick you probably read about on other similar posts.
Also, if you're experiencing any issues, please open a dedicated topic by providing more specific information about the issue itself, so we can look into to and help you find a solution.
Thanks! Kind regards.

Listen carefully, I am a veteran of 40 years in IT, I am not a child, I NEVER post here as I have always found solutions on my own, and made it work.
My Windows Installations do not have issues.!!!!!!
The CTRL solution works for IMAGES, It does not Work for Attaching a document path.!!!
Furthermore there should be no need for work-arounds if the development was done correctly.
Now leave me alone, I am grumpy, annoyed, and wasting my time on nonsense, is the biggest evil.
I will use alternative software, and put my tenure of 12 years with Website X5 to one side.
Sorry, but I would say that software can only be truly tested in ‘the wild’. There is only so far you can go with simulators & BETA testers.
I am also sorry that you feel offended.
Before I leave you, are you aware that you can download previous versions from your account?
I’m only trying to help Gerrit.
Gerrit - or you could check out the next release :-)
(it would appear to address your major issue/s?)

All software has its quirks, but I've been using a simple web editor for my other website for many years, because I know its quirks and I know the way around them.
I was able to fix all my initial problems with my brother's website after updating from Evo 13 to Evo 2022.2.6.
The WebSie X5 program is suitable for both beginners and advanced users who are looking for a simple way of working. For everyone else there are CMS, blog and shop scripts as well as code editors such as Visual Studio Code, a free source text editor from Microsoft.
