When creating a User in Access Management, when I try to add a note or under the Settings trying to write a "Welcome message" the program crashes and I am given the Windows error message to either search for solution on line - which fails or just close the program.
I have started the computer several times and it still happens. I am using Windows 7 on a HP Pavilion G6 series laptop. Using Website X5 V11 Professional build 11.0.7.30.

Hello Ian,
Please try to repair the .NET Frameworks by following these steps:
To repair the .NET Frameworks 3.5 and 4 you need as first to use following cleanup tool to remove .NET 4:
http://cid-27e6a35d1a492af7.skydrive.live.com/self.aspx/Blog_Tools/dotnetfx_cleanup_tool.zip
Once done go to Control Panel then choose Programs and Features and then click on Turn Windows features on or off. Clear the check box for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1 and then click on OK. After Windows disables the feature you will need to go back to re-enable Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.1
This procedure can take some time to deactivate and activate .NET 3.5.1 and once done reinstall .NET 4 after downloading it from following link:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17718
Once done test it on your project and also under a new project to see if it still happens.
Please keep me updated.

Hi Claudio
sorry for my delay in responding but I have been away for a few days. I have done as you asked and still have the problem. It also applies to trying to edit an email object and editing existing text in the "Message:" text box on the "Confirm e-mail for the user" side of the form.
I am not in the position at the moment to test a new project but will do so later today if I can.

Hello Ian,
In this case it will be probably necessary to repair all the .NET Frameworks on your computer:
first use this cleanup tool to remove .net 4, 3.5, 3, 2.5, and 2 in this exact order
Once done install them again in this order:
.NET 2
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=1639
.NET 2.5
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16508
.NET 3
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3005
.NET 3.5
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21
.NET 4

Please keep me updated.

Hi Claudio,
I have followed your instructions, cleaned up all dotnet files and re-installed (twice) to no avail. I am still unable to create or edit text in the message box of Access Management nor can I edit the Message text box of the confirm email object. As attempts cause WebsiteX5 to crash, checking other settings in these objects seem fruitless as if there is a problem it is manifesting itself with these two examples. MY PC is up-to-date with Windows 7, dotnet framework and to the best of my knowledge Website X5 Professional 11.
I am no in the position where I need to make changes and cannot do so and in a sense making Website X5 unfit for purpose which is very disappointment after so many years of excellent service. I will also be migrating to Windows 10 in the near future, can i expect further problems with your application.
I look forward to a solution to my problem.

Hello Ian,
Did recently something change in your computer like a new program installed or any updates?
The issue you experience comes from a windows component which cannot be loaded by the program and in the most cases it is the .NET Framework. Try also to install the visual c++ packages from here:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2977003
The Version 11 works correctly on windows 10.
Many thanks!

Hi Claudio,
Thank you for your response.
I have not recently installed any new software and to the best of my knowledge nothing has changed on my computer prior to the problem with Website X5.
After I carried out your suggestion of a 'dotnet clean-up' and reinstallation I did experience problems with another program. After the third clean-up and reinstallation of dotnet files this other program behaved correctly, however the problem still exists with Website X5.
I have carried out your latest suggestion to no avail, the problem still occurs. I can only suspect it is a but that has been introduced or manifest itself since the last Website X5 update.
To provide as much information to you as possible please find below the Problem signature as given by the Windows 'Program has stopped' error message box:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: WebSiteX5.exe
Application Version: 11.0.7.30
Application Timestamp: 5583c9fd
Fault Module Name: LPK.dll
Fault Module Version: 6.1.7601.18914
Fault Module Timestamp: 5596cc9e
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 000028de
OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 2057
Additional Information 1: 0a9e
Additional Information 2: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789
Additional Information 3: 0a9e
Additional Information 4: 0a9e372d3b4ad19135b953a78882e789
Also I have notice that on occasions there is a problem with the Captcha files in so much as the list in the in the 'imkeys.php' files does not match the images in the 'gif' files. This has the effect of making it impossible to send emails from the website.
For all the problems above I have found ‘work-arounds’ by editing the code or copying 'backup' folders but this is clearly not ideal as I cannot use the Website X5 FTP function and is also time consuming.
I await your reply.

Hello Ian,
Whilst waiting for a reply from Claudio you might be interested in taking a look at this thread:
https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/post/125485
The original poster was experiencing crashes due to exactly the same Windows library file as in your own case... LPK.dll
It was indeed a Windows issue as opposed to a WebSite X5 bug.
You might like to follow Claudio's advice given in that thread to attempt to repair the corrupt DLL file.
You mentioned that you are considering upgrading to Windows 10 shortly... it is noteworthy that this cured the problem completely for the OP.
Hope this information is of some use to you.
Kind regards,
Paul

Hi Claudio,
I am sure I should probably start another thread but it would seem that my copy of Website X5 is going through the process of graceful degradation.
Firstly, I have carried out all the suggestion you have given (at least twice) and have also run the command sfc/scannow twice. In frustration I have re-installed Website X5 and carried out an update from my initial installation. All this to no avail, the problems previous reported still exist and causes the program to crash.
Furthermore I have now experienced more problems.
I would appreciate any help you can offer prior to me receiving the Windows 10 update to allow me to continue to use Website X5 without having to do extra coding and manual changes.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for your comment, however I have already gone through this process when I saw the file was referenced in the Crash message.

Hello Ian,
About the facebook issue please write me the link to the facebook page so I can check it to see why it is not working.
About the LPK.dll file this is a missing or faulty windows language file which needs to be repaired or installed. Unfortunately I cannot help you on how to reinstall it since this depends on windows and probably is the windows support in this case more helpful since they will be able to tell you how to proceed to fix this windows issue.
Many thanks!

Hi Claudio,
Thank you for you response. Firstly the link for the facebook page I am trying to add is: https://www.facebook.com/penelope.coomber this works fine when entered in to a browser but causes the Not valid error message when put in the social media object.
Secondly, I appreciate that the fault of crashing lies with the LPK.dll (of which there appears to be several on my computer) but can't get over the fact that I think the error started to occur after a WebsiteX5 update. As you can offer no further assistance on this one I will consider closed and continue to try and solve it myself and / or wait for my Windows 10 upgrade.
I won't mark this 'solved' as I would like an answer to the facebook link problem.
Very best wishes (and thank you and the team for your help_

Hello Ian,
This is not a facebook fan page but a personal profile and it's why it is not working with it. You need to create a facebook fan page in order to use this plugin:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/create/?ref_type=sitefooter
About the LPK.dll file the program has no access to these files so it cannot be caused by it.
Unfortunately I cannot help further since it's a windows issue but I would suggest to use the search engines like google to see if there are solutions to experienced issue with LPK.dll
Many thanks!
