Media player plugin  en

I was convinced by your sales team to purchase X5 11. I'm already regretting it! I've spent way too long trying to figure out how to add media player plugin. Why wasn'this problem resolved before release. I thought X5 was supposed to be a drag and drop website designer?

I need a quick non-technical way to get my vids showing in the preview screen.

Please help as I'm almost at the stage of buying a different web builder.

Hello Roy,

What format are your media files?

The built-in preview browser has support for .MP4 and .FLV files.

It is strongly recommended that you use only MP4 in any event, for maximum compatibility with end user browsers and devices.  Even if you install a plugin in the WebSite X5 preview browser (or your own browser), you cannot be sure that visitors to your site will have the same plugin installed on their own systems.

Please see the WebSite X5 help file for a full explanation of file formats and their compatibilty:

Kind regards,

Paul

Hi Paul

I have checked that I have adobe Flash Player. I'm running Chrome. I've tried to upload an MP4 video to the website but the preview window says 'your browser must support HTML5 or Adobe Flash'

What do I need to do next please?

Please download the following ZIP file:

http://files.websitex5.com/answers_topic_files/extensions/Extensions.zip

Extract the contents which are two files as follows:

np-mswmp.dll

NPSWF32_11_5_502_110.dll

Move these two files into the 'Extensions' folder of your WebSite X5 installation, which is normally located via the following path:

C:\Program Files (x86)\WebSite X5 v11 Evolution\Extensions

NB: please ensure WebSite X5 is closed before moving the files...

Restart WebSite X5 and check playback of the media files in the preview browser.

Kind regards,

Paul
