I am a new user of Website X5 Evolution 11.

There is a problem with playing mp3 audio files stored on my website. There is no problem playig audio files when online access is made from a computer, but when the same file is accessed from a smartphone, the audio player comes up on the phone screen, but touching the play arrow has not effect. The file does not play. This happens in both iOS and Android phones.

Wonder if any one had the same problem? Thank you.

Hello Ka Fung,

This suggests that Flash is not installed (or is disabled) on the mobile phones which you used to test.

It is recommended to use MP4 as opposed to MP3 for maximum compatibility with end user devices.

Please see the relevant section of the help file for a greater understanding of how audio files are handled in WebSite X5:

Kind regards,

Paul

Thank you for the quick reply, Paul.

I want to use WebSite X5 Media Player to play the audio as flash is not supported in iPhones. And people are moving away from flash due to security concerns.

If I convert from mp3 to mp4, will WebSite X5 Media Player play the audio file on all smartphones?

Please confirm.

Another question, is mp4a file format supported by WebSite X5 Media Player?

Thank you.

Hello Paul,

I tested by converting the mp3 audio file to mp4 and it worked. I have over 100 mp3 files to convert and upload now!

By the way, m4a format is not supported by WebSite X5 Media Player. It says plugin not loaded.

Thank you very much for your support.
