Hreflang Tags with Errors
Auteur : Aristotelis BiliourisDear Sirs,
When i change the "Condent language" from English to Greek, a lot of my pages got "Hreflang Tags with Errors" and i got an email from Google tha states
"Google has detected that some pages on your site have implemented the rel-alternate-hreflang tag incorrectly. In particular, there seems to be a problem with incorrect language and region codes, or incorrect bi-directional linking (if page A links with hreflang to page B, there must be a link back from B to A as well). Google uses the hreflang attributes to serve the correct language or regional URL to the right users in search results.
Until you correct the errors on the hreflang links, your website will not benefit from additional language or region targeting."
Why happened this? how can i solv the problem?
Regards
Hello Aristotelis Biliouris,
Can you please write me the link to your website to see what exactly happens?
Many thanks!

Once done proceed to export it again online.

Hello Telis,
Can you please tell me on which page it shows this it uncorrect?
Did you make a complete export or only the updated files?
You have to take in consideration it can take time until it is completely crawled by the search engines.
Many thanks!

Hi Claudio,
Both complete & partial exports
I m attaching you the csv file with the problematic urls
Total 74 Hreflang labes, 58 Hreflang errors (29 "el" & 29 "el-cy"

Telis
Hello Telis,
All the pages have the correct hreflang tag in it:
<htmlprefix="og: http://ogp.me/ns#"lang="el-GR" dir="ltr">
Probably the tool used is not identifiying correctly the language and it's why it shows this error since it proposes el-cy. If you use Cyprus Greek then you need to add in the lang code el-cy
Many thanks!
