Website not uploading properly?  en

Finally completed my website and now as I am uploading it it isn't working, had to manually upload it with an ftp program as the program wasn't uploading all the files by itself. For example the index.html wasn't being uploaded and I don't know what else.

So exported the website and uploaded all the files with an ftp client program.

Website now looks like this: http://www.olex.co.za/

aka an abomination

Hello Olex Systems,

It should be possible to use the built-in FTP engine to upload your WebSite X5 files to the server.

What error message(s) do you receive when you attempt to upload the site in Step 5 using WebSite X5's own FTP engine?

Please post as much detail as possible, as it is very likely that your server is misconfigured in some way.

I recommend also having a word with your webhost and explaining the problem to them, as the issue almost certainly lies on the server side.

As a starting point check that WebSite X5 has full and free access to all folders in the project root directory on the server, with the correct directory permissions, etc.  -  your webhost can help you and advise you further in applying the necessary settings if you are unsure what these are.

Kind regards,

Paul

Paul is correct, but your manual upload should also have worked.  Did you export website to disk into a specific folder and then copy everything in that folder to your public html folder on the host?  It appears you have missed all the folders in that folder.

Hmmm, well our previous website was on the same server until recently as it was recplaced with the new (non-functional) one.

I have been in contact with our webhosting company before contacting the Website x5 site, and they said as long as it gows into the /web directory where the previous one was it should be fine.

As for errors - there were none, it ran all the way as if it uploaded everything and then just didn't it seems

Hello Olex Systems,

You appear to have resolved the directory permissions issue...  are you happy for this thread to now be closed?
