"Regarding the mobile features, you have to enable them under "Step 2 Template > Customization > Resolutions and Design Responsive" then select Responsive website."

Thank you for this response.  It does not help at all in changing an existing template.  Please provide an accurate step-by-step guide.  I have tried editing an existing project/template and it will not allow me to create a mobile friendly version.  Should all my images be less than 480?

No, for every viewport you can create a template with the same or other pictures or smaller or bigger pictures, this depends on your wishes and the template.

In the template section header/footer you can select on the left 4 viewports, each can be setup seperatly so all viewports are adjusted to the users screen.

In the preview you can see also these colours and by resizing the preview you can see how the result of the viewport setting in x5 is shown.

Small tip on how to find this here in answers:

There is a guide section in x5 that gives you a lot of nice examples in how to set up.

see this one for responsive: https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/fr/post/169726

but others can be found here: https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/en/search/type%3Aguides

(the direct link is here in answers left below in the footer (guides)

Also in the help is practical information, press it in x5 (F1) wherever you are and you will get help on the item you are in. and go left below (Best Practises)

Hope this will get you on your way.

Thank you for your endeavour to help me here.  I think I may not have expressed my problem precisely:  I have previously used version10, in which I created a mobile friendly version.  It was my understanding from the sales documentation of V 13 that I could just import my previous version and it would work.  Are you now saying that I have to modify my website template yet again to create a mobile version?

Best wishes

Hello Ingrid,

Well maybe me also (not understanding you correctly), but everybody is a bit correct here.

I am speaking of the information in the footer / header not the template.

You can import v10 and then work with it, but with v10 the info in the header and footer where all automaticly arranged and there was almost nothing to correct or change exept for small changes in the lowest viewport if I remember correctly. there was no room for other objects, 1 object went  to all viewports. Nowerdays the smaller viewport sometimes asks for less information or anonther way to display correctly and get faster loading. These things where not possible in v10 to change, but now you can. (due to a lot of questions and wish lists of users) and Incomedia listened and made it possible.

For instance if you have a lot of links in the footer (like in Answers) you could now say is this needed in the smallest viewport? cause you probably have them in your menu as well. it's your choice to leave them or just set the most important ones. Also for pictures, big pictures load slower and mayby that picture is not could to read if it's in the smallest viewport, so now you can remove it and set just a text. Also you can set objects on a different spot to pop up better in smaller viewports.  for the mentioned footer earlyer i have done this: I made a lot of links in the footer with a table object, I created it for the second biggest viewport on the lowest resolution (I set the preview in the green line as close to the yellow one as possible) then I made the size of the text and links so that it would fit exactly. But that did not look good in the 2 viewports below them (the black and yellow one) people don't have a mouse and aften need to work with there fingers in these resoluttion, then they need to magnify it then select it, it's not nice. So I removedthe table from the lowerst 2 viewports and set just 1 or 2 textlines with a link and a small logo.

There are way more examples, v13 has just more power, more tools, and you can make better header and footers this way, with also more objects, this is a very big advantage and a very good reason to switch, but yes you are right it's a bit more work (usualy once) but you can make a way better and more profesional site.

But if you just like x5 to handle it, it will, it will set it in a standard that it asumes is best. But it's a software program it does not know what content is more importand and in v10 you had no control over this.

So it can be that you need to adjust the viewports of your template header/footer, or even change objects, but it will make you site truly better, and again normally it's just a one time adjustment. The template itself stay's the same, no changes are needed there.

maybe these help also: https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/fr/post/154023

Just give it a try, maybe the first time it's a bit confusing but once you have worked with it it is not that hard, and gives you way better result. So it's an extra option an extra possibility to improve in comparison with v10.

Best Regards.
