Hi All,

Having upgraded from version 13 to version 14 is proving problamatic for me. I have downloaded the Login - Logout widget from the marketplace. What I want to do is have the Login box from the Login widget on my website for limited access pages. However I cant get it to work (probably something I am doing wrong).

Irrespective of what I do I still get the Login box from version 13 which works OK in allowing access etc. but I dont want to use this Login box, I want to use the Login box from the marketplace. I have attached a jpeg showing what I get versus what I want, also when I look at the downloaded Login widget on my PC it is not the same as whats on the marketplace, again I have attached a jpeg showing the difference.

What I probably need is a step by step guide how to use the Login widget to secure web pages.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim,

are you adding the correct Object? Do you have this issue online only or in the preview, too?

Thank you! I wish you a nice day.

Hi Elisa,

Thank you for getting back to me, I upgraded a project from version 13 to version 14 and want to use the Login Logout object from the marketplace to restrict access to a web page, I am probably doing something wrong, but I will explain what I have done with the aid of the attached jpeg. Hopefully it will make sense to you.

1. Set up user in Access Management

2. Use Log in object to restrict access to page "Forthcoming Events

3. Set up Login object on page "Forthcoming Events"

4. Locked page giving access to specified user

Uploaded the website to the server

5. When I try to access the page "Forthcoming Events", I get the "old" access box which was in version 13, entering

the password etc. gives me access to the page

6. Page opens showing the new login box, which accepts the passowrd etc

7. The page remains the same

This issue is both online and in preview, I am probably not setting this up correctly, any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Jim

Hi Elisa,

Thank you once again for getting back to me, however I believe that I have used the new free version. I have tried uninstalling the version that I have and installing the version that https://market.websitex5.com/en/objects/live-preview/331c1bf7-12ef-43d8-b329-352d615dfec refers to but it tells me that I have purchased it, see attached jpeg.

Could it be that on upgrading from version 13 the old version is "stuck" and can't be removed ?

THank you for your help so far, it would be great to resove this problem.

Many thanks,

Jim

Hi Elisa,

Further update, on checking, I had both the new free version "Login & Logout" installed along with the old version

"Login/Logout". I have deleted the "old" version and am happy that I am using the "new" version, however the problem

still persists in that the Login box is what I used in version 13 and not the "new" login in box, I have attached a jpeg to

show what I mean:

1. What I get

2. What I want

I have also carried out the folowing:

1. Made the changes using the "new" Login & Logout

2. Exported the saved file to a new folder on my PC

3. Deleted the back up files from the Incomedia folder

4. Imported my new saved file

5. Deleted the project from the web server

6. Uploaded the new file to the web server

Having done all this the problem still persists i.e. the new Login box does not show, any further help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Jim

Hi Elisa,

Futher update following some more testing, without having any "Login/Logout" either the old version or the new version

set up on my project, as soon as you lock any page and try to access that page. The "old" style login box appears, I have

attached a jpeg showing this box.

My question is, what is generating this box as it seems to overide when you use the "new" Login & Logout box.

Once again our help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

Jim

Hi Elisa,

Thank you for getting back to me. To recap I upgraded from version 13 to version 14, I imported a project created in 13 to 14. The problem that I have is that I am trying to set up restricted access page using the new Login & Logout object from the marketplace, however I can't get it to work.

What I have found so far:

1. If I set up a page as locked without any Login/Logout object on that page (or any other pages), when I upload the project to the web, when I try to access that page I get the log in box (box 1 in jpeg) appearing. If I use the details set up in Access Management, I can login OK. The login box is the same as I had set up in version 13, it would appear that this login box is coming from Access Management ?

2. If I add the Login & Logout object to any page, when I try to access that page online I end up with the Login box appearing as above, when I enter the user details as set up in Access Management I can access the page, however the Login & Logout object (see box 2 in jpeg) that I added to the page appears when the page is open, entering the user details in the boxes does nothing.

It would appear that either I am doing something wrong or the information in Access Management is overiding the new Login & Logout object.

I have set the website up on my test domain http://www.jimcosgrove.co.uk/ If you got to Hall Booking Info then select Facillities this page is set as locked but without any Login/Logout object on it you will see the login box which is what I had in version 13 (box 1 in jpeg).

If you select Hall Booking Info then select Hiring Rates (I added the Login/Logout object to this page) you will see the same box,(box 1 in jpeg). You may have to reload the web site to check this. if you enter the E-mail address *** and the password jim (all lower case) it will open the Hiring Rates page and you will now see the Login/Logout box object.

I hope that this makes sense to you, your help to resolve this issue would be appreciated, even if it's just to explain that I am doing something wrong.

Many thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim,

the fact is that you are placing the Login & Logout Object on a locked page. Because of that, the new box will be visible only after the login and the default box is shown instead. Try to place the Object on a normal Page or in the Header, you should be able to see the new box after that.

Please let me know if I can help you further. Kind regards.

Hi Elisa,

Thank you for getting back to, unfortunately even following your instructions I cannot get the Login/Logout object to work.

So going back to basics, I have a web site with a page that I want to restrict access to using the new Login/Logout object. There are no locked pages on the website at present. The page that I want to restrict access to is the Hiring Rates page, which is a sub page of the Hall Booking Info, (number 1 in the attached jpeg). If you look at number 2 in the attached jpeg, you will see at present I have two objects on it, one is a text for the page title “Hiring Rates”. The second object is a pdf object giving the various rates. If you were to look at the home page, (number 3 in the attached jpeg), it would show a sub menu “Hall Booking Info” with “Hiring Rates” being one of the options under “Hall Booking Info”.

I would ask that you give me a step-by-step guide at the very basic level providing instructions on how to add the Login/logout object and get it to work i.e.

  1. Go to page creation
  2. Do this
  3. Do that
  4. Etc.

I have used WebsiteX5 versions 11, 12 and 13 and if you have had a look at my test site you will see that I have a pretty good grasp of WebsiteX5. So I am somewhat embarrassed having to ask for what is basically an idiot guide on how to get the Login/Logout object to work, but such is life.

Your help is appreciated.

Many thanks,

Jim

Hello Jim,

You need to set the page as password protected and then as example you add the login & logout object in the homepage.

Once the user does the login on the homepage then when he opens the Hiring Rates page it will not ask again to login.

In case the user tries to open the Hiring Rates page without having logged in on the homepage then it will appear the default login function which cannot be modified.

As first you need to add the login object on a visible page like as example the homepage so the user will be logged in before opening any password protected page.

After done this he can open all the password protected pages and it will not appear the default login page (imlogin.php).

Many thanks!

Hi Claudio,

Thank you for getting back to me and explaining the correct way to use the new Login/Logout object following your instructions it does work OK.

However, the main selling feature for me with the new Login/Logout object was that it allowed you to create a more aesthetically pleasing Login box as opposed to the default login page (imlogin.php).

What I find disappointing is that in the event of the user entering the wrong user details or password (a not uncommon issue), the password box defaults to the login page (imlogin.php), see attached jpeg. Most users would find this confusing going from one Login box to a different one. This strikes me as very sloppy programing, if the users Login fails due to wrong details surely it should revert back to the same Login box?

Once again thank you for your prompt reply, keep up the good work.

Jim
