Hi, I'm a newby and am just trying out the free version before taking the plunge and I like what I see. Only one problem so far is with the menu bar in templates. It accepts a setting for "current page" and when I press the eye symbol to look at it, it works. However when I save to disk and view the saved site with a browser it is ineffective. The mouse-over one works fine. Am I missing something?

Hi Nick.
May I ask you to attach some screenshot here that clearly shows the effect that is working inside the preview and is no longer working once the site has been exported locally?
This could prove useful to me in order to better understand what could be going wrong with it.
Thank you
Stefano

This is a screen shot of the welcome page and the menu bar. "Acceuil" as it says here in French is dark blue in the internal preview but showsnothing when live. If I hover over amother menu choice it goes grey as it should.

Hi Stefano, I have found another mystery. When I make a link to a pdf file the preview version works fine again but the live version produces a black screen where the pdf document should be. The screen shot of the set up is here. I really like this software but these little inconsistencies are worrying me. If I could be happy they disappear and it becomes fully functional on the paid version I would be satisfied.

I'm using an up to date Firefox browser. I've just tested it against other browsers loading it from my desktop and it works fine with Chrome, Puffin and Internet Explorer but the images and effects don't work at all with Microsoft Edge. So it looks like a compatibility issue, but a big one, and something that could be a showstopper. Our site has to work with all mainstream browsers. I hope you can help.

This is Firefox with the empty window

And this is Mocrosoft Edge not even loading a few basic images

I should have attached the screenshot of the preview screen. Here it is. Using a different browser makes no difference to this anomoly unlike the one above with pdf files, images and effects.
Nick, is there any chance you could provide a link to the online site??
If you are only trying to check it locally after saving to disk, can we assume you are going to step 5, export to disk and saving the site in a specific folder on your HD (I only ask because in my experience the upload folder does not contain the same file structure, and yet many users think it should hold the full website for local viewing)

I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. The site is not live yet as I am about to re-write on old existing site. So I have been exporting the new test site to HD and then viewing it through the index file in a variety of browsers. Are you saying that may be the problem?
No Nick, it does not sound like a problem as long as you are not using the default upload folder to preview in Firefox, etc.

Ok, thank you. So are we saying that these two problems are likely to disappear if I buy the software, and if they don't you will be able to help me investigate why and will sort out the bug if that's what it is?
Nick, the current page not highlighting in the menu appears to be an issue, I am not sure if it has already been reported elsewhere, but I have recently reported it to Incomedia and provided an example project in case it is required. I am sure this will be rectified fairly quickly.

I will now look at your other problems and see if they too could be caused by WX5 - hopefully I will post here again soon.
Nick, I cannot reproduce your problem with the pdf, but have in the past had issues with very large pdf's when displaying in a showbox, and when Windows 10 decided to make it's web browser the default pdf display engine. I solved the latter problem by installing Acrobat Reader but I had to stop using the showbox for the large pdf (whether this was initially the fault of the pdf or edge refusing to open in firefox I am not sure).
If you set the pdf to open in a new window, does this display the pdf?
Images
Are these images in a row of image objects or images in the gallery object (horizontal thumbnails?), or simply images placed in one or many text objects??
Are all the images local or are they being retrieved from a website?
Or perhaps something else?
(sorry - I obviously cannot reproduce your problem)
So frustrating not being able to see your problem live. . .
If you already have a domain with the existing website, perhaps it would be possible to create a folder in the existing public_html area and upload your testing site to it? You could easily use filezilla or similar to achieve this.
We could then go to www.yourdomain.com/test and see the issue?

Or could you look at a folder in Dropbox if I shared it with you by link?
Nick, if you wish to do dropbox, export the project (create iwzip) - do not include previews or backups, & put that on dropbox.
I promise to do nothing more than look, comment and when finished, destroy :-)

Great. Is this message private, for the link?

Nick, the menu issue has been resolved. . . https://helpcenter.websitex5.com/fr/post/191097
The problem only occurs from the local HD and if the correct information is not provided in settings/website address
