Pictures blurred when viewed online including responsive
Auteur : Sunny L.X5 version 12.
It doesn't seem to matter what resolution I use for some photos... but when they upload online they are blurred - As viewed in PC Chrome and Firefox Browsers and the same on a Galaxy Note phone. They look ok in X5! I have a feeling it is something to do with the program resizing the photos, but I have been into the FTP folders to look at the files and they are all pretty small... a LOT smaller file sizes than the originals.
The odd thing is that some of the photos I upload are fine.
Bottom of home page - all motage pics are blurred... http://sundayl.co.uk/index.html
Some pages are ok - example - http://sundayl.co.uk/so-soft-the-question.html
Whilst looking for an example page to post here I notice that the following page end with pfp and html... why is that as it was created in the same way as the others.
To be honest I am finding X5 difficult to get good results and will have to give up soon as the helpcentre is not easy to find information either. And being an Artist I HAVE TO HAVE sharp photos of my work throughout my site.
Any help would be appreciated.
Sunny, the pictures on your home page appear fine. There will always be some trade off in quality when an image is resized and resampled, but if this is a concern, why not link each thumbnail to a higher resolution image of the original?
If your webpage is not as good as I have included here, perhaps you could clear the cache in your browser (CTRL+F5)
Even at 300% they appear acceptable

Thank you for your reply. The Montages on that home page are effectively buttons and therefore each have to link to a landing page, so can't link to a larger original, unfortunately.
But what I don't understand is why these images at the bottom of the home page are not as crisp as the others. For instance the pictures in the slider at the top I assume are being resampled.... they are crisp. The montages at the bottom are just picture boxes in the program but are blurred.
The montage at the bottom of the page (small paintings) I used a 1000px wide jpg to see if a bigger file size would help but it has pixelated even worse as seen on the white text and the jagged edge of a white certificate in the picture, although it seems to do that in the program preview too.
Is there an optimum size that a picture should be so that when it is resampled on PC or mobile it doesn't blur/pixelate? It seems to be these montages that are the worst.
Sunny, in v12 when using the picture object, have you looked at the display tab, here you can set the image quality and resample method because it appears that the slider is using a better resampling technique. Also, under the general tab, when setting the link you can click on the Description TAB, select image file, set tooltip width (as big as the original if you wish), and set image width to 100%. It is up to you if you want to add text. This would provide a high-res popup when the image on the page is hovered over.
If you are still unhappy, you could try simply dropping the image in a text box, resize as required and use the link option as above. A third option would be to simply add the collage image as a background image in each cell through the cell style option and then add overlayed text to bring the cell to size.
1000px seems fine, I resize all originals to 1024px before using in WX5, although the newly released Optimizer seems to remove that requirement for future projects if you upgrade to v15.
