Saving data files to an external drive
Auteur : J. DudleyI have a license to install software to 2 PCs. I use a desktop PC and a Laptop. Unfortunately there seems no way to save my edited web site designs to an external drive so that I can continue the editing or updating from my laptop. I seem to have to save all the files seperately onto an external and then Import the files into the laptop software. and then do everything in reverse to get it back onto the Desktop. Complicated and time consuming.
Is there a way that when I save my editing on my Desktop PC, It saves the files to my external drive and the Laptop simply loads in from the external drive. No need to import the project. Seems a basic requirement so how do I do this please ??? The Importing and exporting of projects from one machine to another is ridiculously complex .
Help or guidance appreciated

Just a Thought but can this software be installed onto an external hard drive so that I can simply run it from either PC without having to keep transfering Data projects backwards and forwards ??
John, the short answer is yes, you can work off a portable HD by simply ensuring it has the same drive letter on both PC's and setting the default in both copies of WX5
However, my experience (& that of others) is that this makes WX5 less stable, the same has also been true for people working across a network (not to mention the cloud).
I do occasionally work on two different PC's. I copy the project folder to the external HD or USB stick, but before working on the project, I copy it to the local HD of the PC and work from there. I find this less troublesome than importing from an iwzip (although I do have to make sure that all my source material is stored within the project directory in a directory I call source).

Thanks for the hints. could you advise where may various web design data files are stored as they are not in the
" Website X5 v13 - Professional" directory ?
John
By default the projects are stored in this PC\documents\incomedia\website X5 v13 - Professional
Either copy the above directory in full, or just the project file/s you require.
