Problem with different versions X14 & X16  en

I appear to have lost my website files including teh *.iwzip file for my project.

I appear to have ended up with WebSite X5 Prof 14   and X5 prof 16.3.1 6 installed on my PC at the same time and have now got confused by all this and lost my .iwzip file as a consequence. The two programs appear to start up randomly when I open Wbsite X5 and as I was not aware that sometimes X14 started up and other times X16 started up and the two programs appear to have different project folders.

Is there any way that I can reconstruct a project file as I have all the webist files in their folders but not the .iwzip file.

Hi,

I have now just found that I have versions WebSite X5 Professional 14  AND a WebSite X5 Professional (with no version number) that appear to be fully installed on my PC.

The one with no version number displays V16.3.1.6 while loading and then shows 16.3.1 so once loaded, when I run it by searching for it from the start menu.

The one called WebSite X5 Professional 14 displays Version 14.0.6.2 while loading but then only displays Website X5 Professional 14 once loaded.

This is all very confusing as they look similar apart from the slight differences discussed above.

Now I appear to have lost a lot of work that went into constructing a responsive website from a blank template.

I really do need to be able to find the missing .iwzip file - I have used windows search but can't find it.

Where do Website X14 and Website X16  store the project files by default and is there a way to set the default directory?

Thanks

Hello.

"Where do Website X14 and Website X16 store the project files by default" - "Your drive":\My documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 - Professional\.

"and is there a way to set the default directory?" - yes:

Hi Alksej,

Thanks for the help

OK so the version that calls itself Website X5 Professional but then displays V 16.3.1 when on teh top edge of teh window when running syas its project directory is:

d:\Users\User\Documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 - Professional\

But the one that calls itself Website X5 Professional 14 says its Project Folder is  also d:\Users\User\Documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 - Professional\

When I run X14 it shows me a list of projects in the Projects pane, but when I highlight one and hit the green -> button (top right) it brings up the template selection screen and then builds another new project directory!

OK so what I have now discovered is that X14 most probably should be using a project folder of

d:\Users\User\Documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 v14 - Professional\.

Using windows explorer I can see various subfolders one of which is RPS-EfW which is teh website that I was working on however there is no .iwprjzip file. But in a subfolder called Backup there is a list of backups with a files extension of .iwprj2. Will one of these be able to restore what I was working on. One is dated today 11/03/2019 and others that are a few days older. Coul I use one of these to get back to where I was when all these problems started?

Thanks

Ian

First make a copy of the entire project folder (just in case).

Then try to restore the project from backup.

Ian, before restoring from backup, open WX5 v14 and under preferences change the default folder to d:\Users\User\Documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 v14 - Professional\ as advised by Aleksej

You may find that your v14 project is there and will now open, if you are advised it was opened by a later version of WX5, then try backup redo as advised by Aleksej above.
