Optimization (step 5) version 2019.2 - pro  en

Hi,

I optimized the site with the option: "Reduce the resolution of larger images" from step 5.
Can I upload the optimized site on the net?
Does the quality of the images on the site not be affected?
Is optimization only for archiving and backup?

Thank you.

Respectfully,
Mihai

Hello Mihai,

Yes, you can freely upload the optimised version of your site to the net.

There will be no noticeable loss of visual quality with regards to images.

The optimisation process is not intended for archiving and backup, but rather to compress and reduce the size of images transferred to the server, which in turn makes for a better visitor experience as your site will appear faster to anyone browsing it.  The smaller image file sizes can also help your ranking in search engines, etc.

However, the smaller overall project file also has the benefit of reducing preview time and requiring less storage space, as stated in the software and in the help file:

https://help.websitex5.com/en/v2019.2/pro/index.html?raggruppa.htm

Using the optimisation feature does not preclude you from editing your WebSite X5 project in the future again.

In some cases your optimised images can be overwritten with larger images when working with WebSite X5.  But you can use the optimisation process as often as you wish to reduce file sizes once more.

Kind regards,

Paul
