Site is not mobile friendly

Google is saying my website isn't mobile friendly, (tho it looks fine on my mobile) and the rendered image displayed on their report doesn't look anything like the actual mobile site.
I've tweaked the size of the text and the spacing of clickable elements, but to no avail. What is the best way to sort this out? I am getting really frustrated with everything and considering binning the whole thing!
Any tips would be greatfully received, cheers
Tony

I've got exactly the same problem on all of my websites. I tried to figure out what was causing it but no luck.
Your site appears to be mobile friendly (although in my opinion the agreement requirements are user hostile even if legally required), I have frequently found that simply resubmitting my site shows no issue, especially if there were "timeliness" issues when google run the test.
You have a number of random advertisements which at my end show little relevance to your website and are much slower to display than the site itself. If google continues to report issues can you (temporarily) disable all adverts and see if they are the issue (some do not fit the display on my mobile).
realestate hogs that cannot be ignored
The mobile test will flag if any little item s an issue such as text size, element placement, etc...... but as long as the vast majority of your site is friendly, the penalty will not be as big as when many more things are not friendly. There are some 264 items google looks at - having one or two out is not the end of the world....
Hello.I agree with Esahc.Judging by your screenshot, the site does not have time to load.Increase your website loading speed.
Also, on the test page at the top left, click on "View details" and check that no files on your website are blocked by robots.txt.
P.S. Perhaps this article about increasing site speed will be useful to you.

Thank you for all your feedback - a lot to check out here - and yes, I agree with Esahc too, particularly about the user agreements. The ads are by Google, you'd think they'd optimize them for their tests, but hey, that is another argument! I will look into all the suggestions here and hopefully it will sort out my problems.
Thanks again for all the help
