My website file is said to be invalid or corrupted - I only used it yesterday.

I have tried to open my website file -Bri Empire Master- to continue what I was doing yesterday and I have the message that the file is invalid or corrupted, and I cannot open the file.

I have tried this and I get the same result -invalid file or corrupted.
Does the same happen if you do a clean boot of your PC... in other words restart Windows with no other software running at all, especially third party system services such as antivirus packages?

I have just done that including disabling Norton but to no effect. Last time my website software was freezing the problem was Norton (which I renewed and updated yesterday - coincidence?) but I now have Website X5 exclued from all scans.
In my own personal experience Norton is notorious for causing problems like this, Peter. I feel pretty certain that there will be a link somewhere.
However, we need to resolve your immediate issue. Have you exhausted all of your backups? Have you tried to open every single one of them, without Norton running?

I have tried to restore all the back-ups I have created but to no avail. I have done this with Norton and the firewall disabled. I have now resorted to a duplicate copy I made a month ago although it means creating all the pages I have cproduced in the last month, which is not an insuperable task. I guess that is my only option.
Going forwards it would be a good idea to export your project regularly as an IWZIP file in Step 5 (use the option Step 5 Export > Export the Project)
An IWZIP is a complete self-contained backup of all your project data in a single file. It is much more resilient than the standard backup, and has the additional benefit that you can transfer the project between computers easily (e.g. in the event that your hardware fails).
