Urgent - I need to avoid this error 404get /cart/x5cart.php?action=crtvrs  en

This error is logged on every page acess   404GET /cart/x5cart.php?action=crtvrs HTTP/2

The WX5's javascript is apparently trying to get the cart version from this file but neither the file nor the directory exist so a 404 error occurs.  My site isn't even using the cart so it makes no sense that the scripts would even be looking for anything to do with a cart but this is what's happening.

In desperation I have tried createing a /cart/ directory and adding a file called x5cart.php which simply returns the digit 1 but the 404 error is still happening.

I need a way to fix this problem as soon as possible as it is extremely bad to have every page on your website generating a 404 error. Google doesn't like it for a start. I am using the lastest version of WX5 pro.  I believe this is a bug in the software that will potentially affect everybody's sites.

Suggested solutions or workarounds to try are welcome, evena as a temporary measure until it can be  fixed properly.

It seems that this is not a new problem but Incomedia haven't done anything about fixing it.

The latest version of x5 uses PHP 8.0 This is offered by your website hosting.

Please check first at you hosting if PHP is set and if set then set it at the highest version possible, then try again best is v8 as metionend.

Hi Andre,

Thank you for that tip, it has helped me get rid of the 404 issue, but not directly.

There shouldn't be any need for PHP because the X5 generated pages are just static and do not use any search engine, cart, database or admin features so it is really bizarre that it is needed. However, as you suggested I installed PHP 8.0(.3) on the server. This did not solve the error issue, so once again I created a /cart/ directory and placed a file in it which I called called x5cart.php, the file contains just a digit 1, nothing else. I'm pleased to report that the combination of these changes has now resulted in getting rid of 404 error.

I see this only as a temporary solution because a static site shouldn't need PHP anyway, and I shouldn't have to resort to creating a pointless directory and file.

@ Ian,

The cart needs PHP, the shoppage not, don't ask me why, i am a user like you i did not made the software, but i am sure there is a good reason behind it.

Any way, glad it works now, thanks for the feedback!

Big thanks Ian !

I can not use PHP 8 in my hosting because a lot of wordpress themes are not compatible with the PHP 8...

Your solution is the good solution (even if it'not really orthodox ;-) )

Regard.

Hello Ian

This issue is actually not related to the PHP version specifically. It is but a warning which gets displayed on website that currently do not have any products in it

I would like to reassure you that, even though Google recommends avoiding 404 errors, your website won't suffer major penalizations due to something like this

The matter is still open to be fixed by the developers. Until it is done and resolved though, you will hardly ever encounter a loss of ranking due to something like this

I will notify you here as soon as news on this becomes available

Thank you

Stefano
