Using Website X5 Pro, am I able to password protect specific pages w/o requiring
Auteur : Cf GuyHi All,
I am using Website X5 Professional to design a website that consists of several pages of content. My question is: is there a way for me to simply password-protect specific pages of the website without first requiring users to go through a "registration" process first? For example, if my website is a website with construction projects needed to be done on my home, can I password protect a page with my contact information (my telephone number, my email address, etc.) so that if I prescreen a specific contractor over the phone, I may simply verbally give him or her the one word password needed to unlock the page with my personal contact information (so that this information is not visible to just anyone who happens to end up surfing to my website while online (or to also prevent webots from automatically "scraping" specific pages of my website content so that it is "archived" of anyone doing a google search of my name would not be able to access my contact information at some point in the future)? From the program's controls, it looks as though the way the developers of this program want us to "password protect" specific pages/sections of the created website by first having the website viewer/user would have to go through a "registration" process (which I imagine that I, as the website owner would have to first "authorize" their (the websites viewer's/user's) request for access to protected pages/areas of the created website. (Please correct me if I am wrong about this). Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much. -Cfguy
It is easier than that and there is no need for databases, pre-registration by user, etc. You simply create the users (with either ficticious or real details)
Whenever you want to allow one (or many) access to a page you can simply add an email address and password then advise them.
Go to step 1, Access Management, select group 1(or add group) and add user. Now fill in details.
Then in step 3, select the page you want locked and choose who can open it.
Sorry to disturb, but I just want to clarify.
You only need to create one user. The credentials (mail (can be fictional) and a password) for that user.
Then all the users you have contact with, only need to know that information.
It will be like you see it on many demo-sites where the same ID and passw is used by many people.
Yes John I agree, but the point is that it is so easy to create more as required. This makes it easy to lock out one user but continue to allow others access without having to advise of new passwords.
I guess the short answer is ‘yes’. And the long answer is ‘yes, there are a number of ways’.
You can create a single shared account. Or create multiple on-demand accounts. And, another suggestion might be to create an unlinked php webpage that you can sent the link to whenever needed.
