Database viewer  en

Hi guys & gals, I have just purchased the Database Viewer object but I can't get it to work. If you look at the attached you will see that it is giving me a communication error, but it must have made a connection because it is displaying the correct field names from the table in the header !!!

The attached also shows some data from the same server/database (different table) correctly displayed using an HTML object and some php code. This works fine.

Any ideas please ?

Thanks, Kev

Hello. How many rows are in the table? Do you see any error messages in the server logs?

Hi Aleksej, there are approximately 75 rows in the current table and I don't see any error messages.

It is very strange because if you attempt to add a record it shows the correct field names, but still gives an error and will export as a 'csv' file which looks OK.

Thanks for your time, Kev.

Hello Kev

I've verified your website and I can confirm that the connection definitely works.

The issue is generated by lingering PHP Warnings on your website. Please contact your hosting provider and ask them to disable the PHP parameter called "display_error"

This should fix your issue

I remain available here

Stefano

Hi Stefano, I have asked the question to my hosting provider and here is what they have replied -

==============================================================

"Dear Kevin Gray,

We can disable that parameter for you but that won't remove any problems with the database connection and, as such, we strongly advise against removing that parameter as it will hide any problems that do arise and you won't be able to see the displayed error.

There will be some issue in your PHP script that is causing your error. You will need to resolve whatever it is and that will remove the error.

Should you need to respond to this message, please click here. Alternatively, you can call our Support Team on 01376 55 60 60. Please do not reply to this e-mail, as this address does not receive incoming mail.

Kind regards,

Where do we go from here ??

Many thanks.

Stefano, are we getting anywhere with this, I would prefer to have a refund of 12 credits to use on something else.

I am quite capable of writng my own database access code, I just thought database viewer would be more convenient, seems not.

Thanks

Kev

Hello Kev

I can confirm that what I mentioned above will indeed remove the problem, contrary to what the Hosting support mentioned.

Their response makes sense though because they are probably considering your website as something that is being programmed directly by someone and not built with a specific tool.

Disabling that parameter will fix the issue

Please tell them to proceed like this and let me know if it works then

Thank you

Stefano
