Make items in shopping cart exempt from discounts

Can we impliment a way to stop an item in the shopping cart being reduced with discount?
For example I have a t-shirt in my basket & a monthly donation of £4.99.
I want to get 10% off my t-shirt but not the donation.
Please help.

Hi!
Instead of activating a coupon code for the whole order, you can create one for the single products the offer can be applied for.
