Import from X5 V10  en

Good Afternoon.

Hope you're all well?

Quick question, I have been using and old Website X5 V10 since when we used it to make my Dad's website many years ago. It seems now that the shopping cart is no longer sending me the generated order email so I've looked to upgrade to the latest.

Now having tried this in the past and getting a refund as the templates I liked and was using were not working in the previous but newer version I tried. Fost forward to today and it seems this newer still 2024 version cannot import my old sites in any form what so ever, so I'm going to have to recreate them from scratch which seems a little unnecassary.

So is there any way to import from the very old V10 to V24?

Thanks for your time.

Hi Ian, the Version 10 project can be updated (as long as it was the Pro version you used to make it back then) but needs some extra steps taken to do that. There are members who offer to convert from older versions and may be happy to do that for you. It involves using at least v11 to import and convert the project. This can then be updated to the latest version.

There are some issues, however. Much has changed from earlier versions and optional objects you may have used in the past might not be supported (or even exist) in the new version. The whole internal structure of the latest version is very different from v10. You might be disappointed in the results and the amount of editing you might need to do to get it looking good could be as much effort as making a new site. Images and text can be copied from the original site (if it is still online) and used as part of a new site. That's the way I would go if it were me doing this. (I have used X5 since v8).

Others may have a better idea of the process and can give you more information, so wait and see what the responses are to your question.

Thank you very much for the resposnes it is greatly appreciated.

Yeah I can see there has been a lot of development and changes in this new release, so I will continue to have a play and see what I can do this end. I'll also explore the link above to see if this can help me.

To be fair it is simply to help me transition over a bit quicker than trying to copy and paste between each version.

Cheers.

Ian
