Export problems - trying to troubleshoot  en

So I have a project that I have been testing by exporting to the X5 webhosting space.  No problem, loads fast. I only use the x5 space as a testing sandbox.

Then I try to export to my main server, and the progress always gets really slow around 74% and then takes a very long time to increment each 1% after that. That is during the part where the message says "Preparing your Website for the upload..."

If I click on the folder icon on the export settings window, it shows the correct destination path and contents - so the server connection is fine.

from 74 to 79% takes an hour.... and if I leave it for hours more no further progress.

(I have many other projects loaded on this server (X5 created). No problem with those.)

At this point in the export, is X5 doing anything with the server directory?  I presume not as it says preparing for the upload.  If I look at the server with filezilla the directory is still empty (public_html/mydomain ) at the 74% aand 79% progress points.

Or is it having a problem with the server??

Thank you

Adrian

Have you previewed prior the uploading?

Thank you for your reply.

Yes, I always preview.  So overnight it did complete, but it took at least 4 hours.

If I use the X5 hosting it took only 5 minutes.

I wonder if Incomedia can respond with what is the program doing during the "Preparing your Website for the upload..." phase, as there are no files/folders sitting at the server at that point - the actual FTP hasn't begun. Is it working with the server database at that point?

Hello Adrian,
during that phase the software is generating all necessary files for the websiter, such as HTML pages, CSS files and images, so it shouldn't yet be communicating with the server.
The behavior should not differ depending on where you are exporting, during this phase.
Has the interrupted/slowed down loading only occurred when publishing on the third party hosting and never with the WSX5 web space?

This is the same problem that I had about a year ago where I couldn't use X5 as it would never complete publishing or was extremely slow, like 12 hours.

I only use the X5 hosting to sandbox projects occasionally - I do not believe that I have experienced any failures loading to the X5 server.

I use many other server hosts (hostinger, dreamhost, siteground, vodahost), but I only had problems with the one project that was 125MB iwzip file size.  That was originally on a siteground server. Now it is on a hostinger server)

This project that I am having trouble with now is much smaller at 55MB iwzip size. It is on a vodahost server (along with several other x5 projects - all much smaller such as 10 to 20MB iwzip size).

Since I last had all the loading problems with my main project I found an independant german forum site for X5 users - and on there are people with much much larger projects who said no problems with the size.

Your recommendation to me to solve the never finish upload problem was to break my project into sections and try that - a totally unacceptible and unmanageble solution.

Then suddenly one the large project uploaded fine and it has been doing so now for many months. Now the problem is back....  and with a smaller project size (a project that was copied from my main larger project and then many areas were stripped out for this new site).

So here we are - mystery bug.........?????

Hello Adrian,
can you provide me with a copy of this new IWZIP so that I can test the situation?
ou can export it in Step 5 - Export, choosing the “Export the project option” to generate an IWZIP file.
You can then upload the file with https://www.swisstransfer.com/ or similar services, and provide a download link at support @ incomedia.eu (without the spaces).
Thank you.
