I made copies of the site before trying to convert my 2021.4.7 to 2025.2.12 format.

The 2025.2.12 crashed and the last copy disappeared. The WX5 app was pinned on the taskbar and after the crash it was replaced by Microsoft store app.

Then I made new copies from the 2021.4.7 project and tried again with new started PC.

2025.2.12 crashed again and then all the files with the same name where deleted.

I Have looked up in Windows 11 Protection history but nothing to find.

Can I retrieve the files?

I have still a project version from 1 year ago. Can I get acces to backups of the latest copies?

Or can I import some things back from my online site?

Hello Joris,
do you mean that you made IWZIP files of your projects, or did you make copies of the project folder?
If you look for a file called project.iwprj2 on your computer, what results do you get and where are they located?
This is a file found in each project folder, and may help you locate where the folders can be found, as usually even crashes should not lead to the disappearance of project files.

Unfortunately it is not possible to use files exported online to restore a project.

I remain available.

The specific location of the .iwprj2 files is F:\Users\Joris\Documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 - Professional

Some folders in it are created today but not visible in X5 2021 or 2025.

In the folder changed 3/12/2025 9:34 i found these files:

I will copy them first to a safe location. Then to get them visible again in the software, shoud I only import the latest .iwprj2 file?

Hello,
please check what path is shown in the Preferences settings of WebSite X5, by default this should be Documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 - Pro (rather than Professional, which was used by older versions).
Please check if this other folder exists, and if so, copy and paste the most recent project folders into it, and they should be available in the list of projects that can be opened.
I remain available.

Hello Eric,

The "WebSite X5 - Pro" folder exists, but it was empty because I mostly work with the 2021.4.7 version.

The 2025.2.12 version was set to open and save to the old folder.

F:\Users\Joris\Documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 - Professional\

Never had a problem with creating a new site on the 2025 version with this setting.

I copied some of the latest .iwprj2 to the "F:\Users\Joris\Documents\Incomedia\WebSite X5 - Pro" folder, and changed the preferences in 2025.2.12 to this folder. The projects still wheren't visible.

I then copied some complete folders of the "..Professional" folder

to the "..Pro" folder

Now I see some projects in 2025.2.12.

I tried to convert one, but PC still crashes.

I have 1200 products with many properties and many products have productpages generated by the software. Maybe the file is to complex to convert? I have 48GB RAM.

Do you think I can recover the latest products of the

backup_qe9inaqu.iwprj2 (changed 3/12/2025 9:25)

this is the latest file before it went wrong.

Or should I import that file "backup_qe9inaqu.iwprj2" (generated with the 2021.4.7) back in the old software and then save the products as CSV? (and after that convert it to 2025.2.12 without the products?)
