Updating in bulk the canonical tag in the 'Expert" page properties  en

I am saving an existing project as a new project - then modifying the pages map and page properties to reflect the new project being used as a microsite - so its the same pages but the top level domain will be different.

Existing project: example1.com.   New project: example2.com

So now in the new project, all the canonical tag data in the "Expert" page properties has the reference set to "example1.com/xyz.html"

Is there a bulk way to edit all the canonical tags in the project at once? (needs to be "example2.com/xyz.html")

If not, then the manual edit of each page will be time consuming.....

Suggestion

Make a copy of the project.

Open the project in X5 and then make one little change. Close the project properly.

Start Notepad++ (or similar)

Navigate to the project-folder for the "new" project.

In Notapad++ use the find-and-replace on files, and use the subfolder-also option (just in case)

After done this, then open the project in X5 and see if the things has changes as you expected.

If it has, then use that project

If not - then delete the project and forget about this suggestion.

The only files I can open and edit are the .html files in both the "preview" and "upload" folders. But those are not source files so any changes there won't stick I'm sure?

The projet file "IWPRJ2" doesnt show anything thats intelligible,

You could also download the page files in HTML and PHP format from the web space to your hard drive, edit them with Notepad++ and then upload them back to the web space.

However, I have not edited any files from WebSite X5 with Notepad++ and therefore cannot say anything about possible problems.

Editing target html files for a large and complex site is not a great idea... once you update the x5 source files and republish all that work is lost....
