Updating pages in website X5 Pro  en

Hello. Please advise. My computer's HDD, where I had installed the WebSite X5 Pro program and all backups, failed. I can download the complete current www pages using an FTP connection. The online pages are OK. I have the WebSite X5 Pro program on my old disk, where these pages are more than a year old. Can I replace the old ones in the WebSite X5 Pro program with the downloaded pages? What procedure should I use? Thank you for your help. Petr Falek

The webpage cannot be imported into WebSite X5, but text, images, etc. can be copied from the online webpage and used in WebSite X5.

An old project can be loaded into WebSite X5 and updated with text, images, etc. from the online website.

Hi Daniel. Thank you for your answer.Such a reconstruction is laborious because the pages are extensive.I was hoping that I would replace the files in the Preview and Upload folders with the current ones and the program would accept them. But that didn't happen. On the contrary, it overwrote the new files with the old ones after opening them.:-( Petr

I thought there was a project that was 1 year old. Has so much been added to the project now?

Several years ago I transferred my brother's website with 50 pages to WebSiteX5 and it took me 1 day.

If something is changed in WebSiteX5 that affects all pages, then all pages will be recreated anyway and will overwrite the previous pages when exported.

There will probably be no other choice than to copy the changes from the online website and transfer them to WebSiteX5 as normal.

The site is dedicated to a single product - DesignCAD. The old site offers version 29. The new site offers version 32. I estimate that about 90% of the sites are changing. And my sites are very complex. It would be a job for many days (several weeks). https://www.designcad.info

If the other users or the Incomedia employees don't know a "magic trick", then the difficult route would have to be taken, for better or worse.

There is no magic trick that I have ever seen that works. Backing up by Exporting the site regularly onto another drive (in my case a NAS) is the only sure way of having a safe backup of a site.

Was it a drive failure or a Windows failure? If just Windows, your files will still be there and can be accessed. I have a USB "hot swappable" unit where you plug in the physical drive and can use another copy of Windows to access it. A complete drive failure is rare. Try taking it in to a specialist who can quickly tell you if it is completely corrupted or just the Windows install.
