How can I associate a picture file with a shopping cart import file?

Here is my dilemma: 

I have a list of over 1200 products that I would like to make an import file to import into the shopping cart.  However, since the csv file format does not allow for an image file name as one of the fields, the only way I can see to do what I want is by importing the csv file, then going to each one of the 1200 shopping cart items and editing it to add the image file name.  This seems overly cumbersome, and not too intuitive on the software’s part.

Is there any way that this can be accomplished?

I love the software otherwise so far.  It has made at least getting started on a website rewrite so much quicker and easier.
