Adding Sales Tax With Shopping Cart PayPal And Cc Options  en

I am having the same issue as Chad, see his comments below.  If this issue is not resolved, the built in shopping cart with X5 is useless for anyone in the states.  I have just set up a web site and shopping cart only to find that all is well except for the tax issue in the shopping cart.  Could this please be addressed sooner than later?  This is killing me.  From the date of Chad's email, it looks as thought Incomedia doesn't have us state-side users on the radar for a fix.  Hope I'm wrong though.

Thanks,

Dave

"Hi, I am wondering if there is an easy way to automatically add a 7% sales tax if people are ordering from Florida ? I would use the VAT but that has to be checked...and I would like it if the CC system automatically added the tax to the total when they are from a certain state - and not add it if they are from a different state. Thank you very much. If there is someone who has some code or some ideas on the best way to do this - please let me know. Thank you. Chad"

I have a suggestion on the above issue which to me seems as though it would not be difficult to implement.

In the Shopping Cart Options tab, under the VAT Settings: have the Tax Rate Option as follows.  See attachment.

At checkout, if the Customer Data "State" equals the designated Tax State in the Tax Rate Option under VAT settings, then apply the given Tax Rate for the purchased items.

Thanks,

Dave

Hello David,

Many thanks for your suggestion. Our developers keeps always an eye on the suggestions made by the users for features to implement in the next releases.

At the moment I cannot tell you if and when this feature will be available.

Many thanks!

From the blanketed response of not knowing if or when this could be implemented or not and the date of Chad’s first comment about this issue over a year ago… seems like the answer is no.  I’m no programmer but, this is something that could be easily implemented as in a spread sheet formula as a lookup table and an IF THEN statement as per my suggestion in the previous post.  To deny this one basic functionality to the shopping cart for USA customers seems as though we are not too high on the priority list.  This one feature hinders the use of the shopping cart for your USA customers.  The main reason for the purchase of X5 was to use its simple shopping cart and web builder as an all in one program, which I like very much minus the shopping cart tax issue.  Does this mean I am going to have to look at learning a third party shopping cart?  Please tell me this is something that can be looked at seriously.

Thanks,

Dave

Hello David,

We will for sure take your request in consideration but unfortunately I cannot tell you when this will happen. If you need to use an ecommerce system, for the moment, I would suggest you to use an third party system. Otherwise you need to create as many shopping carts as many different taxes are in the USA and based on the State they open the correct ecommerce with the right taxes included.

Please keep an eye on the Changelog then, as soon as an update is available you will know if this feautre has been added.

Please let me know if I can help you any further! Thank you!

My situation would be the same as Chad's request, which I noted in my above post.

I would need one price with sales tax and the other without the sales tax.  Based upon your comment above; “Otherwise you need to create as many shopping carts as many different taxes are in the USA and based on the State they open the correct ecommerce with the right taxes included.”  How would this be accomplished?  If I understand this correctly, the customer would have to select the item as taxed or untaxed and in hopes that they select the correct one?  If this is the case, this would probably be more trouble than it's worth if they do not select the taxed option if they are required to do so.  This would require requesting the customer to pay the additional taxes before shipment.  Please let me know if I am wrong or you are actually suggesting something else.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Dave

Hello David,

Sorry probably my explanation was not clear. What I meant was to ask the customer, before entering in the e-shop, which state he is living and then, based on the selected state, he will be redirected to the right shop created based on the tax value of this state.

Otherwise you could also use the formmail function where the customers sends you the price request of your products based on their state taxes and then you send them the payment link with the taxes included in the price.

I understand that this options are not automatic and so it takes more time to handle the shop.

If it's easier for you, at the moment I would suggest you to see if you can find a system that is easier to use with the tax laws in the USA. We will for sure keep in mind your request but at the moment I cannot tell you when this will happen.

Many thanks!

I would like to give your suggestion of creating two seperate shopping carts and redirecting the cutomer to the correct shopping cart a try.  How would I actually go about creating two seperate shopping carts for one web site?

Thanks,

Dave

Hello David,

You can export the e-commerce product list and save it as .csv file and then you start a new project where you add only the ecommerce and import the .csv file with the product, or cloning the already used website, and you add the different tax value and you upload the new project in a subdirectory. So you will have 2 shops with different tax values.

If you require any further information, please feel free to write back.
