How can I insert a small crest at the bottom of each page of my website? Do I use a thumbnail? And if so, how do I create a thumbnail?

Can you please explain me better what you want to add to the bottom of each pages?
you can images, or custom code to the footer section in Step 1 - Edit Template Graphics.

At the bottom of each page I want to put a small icon of our school crest. If I use the normal 'insert image' way, the image is far too big. When I used an older version of web x5 I was able to make a small thumbnail which I then put at the bottom of each page.

When you add an image you have the possibility to resize it. Once resized you can copy the image and add it to the otrher pages and it will continue to keep the smaller size.

you can resize the image once added by clicking one of the corner and dragging in the direction to the opposite image corner or you use and external image editor to resize it.
